  • As a valued and trusted partner, the FRM provides decision-support financial analytics, cost reporting and governance to ensure that Technology delivers its service and achieves its strategic goals within budget, while ensuring adherence to an operational risk and control framework.
  • Tech Stakeholders - the FRM partners with senior Tech management (CIO) and the MSS Tech COO Senior Business Management (SBM) team to provide oversight and support for all finance matters in Tech. Financial SME for the department, they assume ownership of all aspects of cost reporting (direct costs, recovery charges, budget interlock, target setting), acting as an independent challenge authority and influencing decision-making to ensure that Technology as a service is delivered on budget and stretch-targets are met.
  • Business/Finance Stakeholders - the FRM forms part of a virtual team with the business and SBM, owning the provision of Tech cost reporting and articulating key messaging through monthly and ad-hoc reviews with business and finance counterparts (COO, CFO). Ensuring the right level of cost transparency and underlying drivers are understood, they ensure the timely escalation of funding issues/opportunities and influence business initiative forecasting and prioritisation.
  • Tech Transformation - providing financial support to the Tech Transformation agenda, the FRM is responsible for validation of related financial targets, plus financial benefits forecasting, tracking and delivery in line with committed operational plans formulated by CIO/Strategy and Operations/SBM
  • Other:
  • Dedicated financial advisory to Tech Asset Class, including all financial reporting and MI needs for recovery charges and direct costs
  • Preparation of ad hoc cost analyses, commentaries, trend analysis and presentation to senior stakeholders
  • SME on all financial tools, cost processes, governance and controls within Tech COO
  • Lead for all Tech COO finance matters associated to re-orgs and business (funding) boundary changes.
  • The FRM is responsible for delivering excellence in Financial Management, cost governance and control for the MSS Tech Executive team, Asset Class CIO and Business stakeholders. To act as a trusted finance partner to help Tech achieve operational and strategic success through provision of financial management information, forecasting and decision-support cost analytics.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
  • Experienced Finance professional, with proven track-record of senior stakeholder partnering/advisory
  • Strong analytical background
  • Accounting qualification (CA, ACA, CIMA), or equivalent.
  • High degree of financial acumen, with extensive experience in financial planning/forecasting, ability to distil large complex sets of data, prepare summarised and insightful analysis and present to senior management
  • Strong customer-centric focus, with proven ability to rapidly build relationships, trust and credibility with senior management and senior stakeholder groups
  • Organised, disciplined and understands the importance of accuracy and integrity of data
  • Articulate and able to influence decision-making and negotiate with senior stakeholder groups
  • Resilient and delivery focused, with an ability to work under pressure to adhere to strict deadlines
  • Ability to rapidly adapt to process change, portfolio reprioritisation and manage simultaneous tasks in a pressurized environment
  • Self-starter and able to work autonomously, with little direction
  • Able to challenge the status quo and suggest viable alternatives in process and approach
  • Experience of managing technology financials within a financial institution; desirable not essential.
