The role provides the successful candidate with unique professional experiences and tremendous exposure to the Medtronic India business areas and support functions Medtronic India, regional, and global controllership as well as other global finance functions there Medtronic internal and external stakeholders.As the Financial Controller, you will provide leadership and oversight for financial reporting and internal controls, internal & statutory audits, finance policy and tax compliance for Medtronic India across Operator, Steward, Catalyst, and Strategist areas of responsibilityOperator:Deliver financial closing and reporting in compliance with US GAAP and India statutory financial standardsReview and sign off balance sheet account reconciliations and attest balance sheet controlsEnsure timely statutory and regulatory reporting, including audits and tax filingsLead and provide account services across value-streams to business areas with support from shared services and BPOProvide oversight and collaborate with Treasury functions for local entity banking, funding, and foreign exchange managementProvide oversight and collaborate with Tax functions for local entity corporate tax, indirect tax, transfer price tax etc areas of complianceProvide oversight and collaborate with Credit functions for credit and collectionsSteward:Be the finance owner of company finance policy and internal controlsImplement and oversee SOX control framework and deliverablesBe the finance owner of statutory financial control compliance with regards to India Company Act and internal Audit/Internal Control requirementsProvide fiduciary oversight for the India legal entity, in support of the local India entity board of directors, working closely with the company secretary function and legal functionBe an active gatekeeper to provide oversight on company assets.Drive and support internal audit corrective and preventive actionsCatalyst / Strategist:Support India country initiatives ensuring sound accounting and tax compliance advice to achieve business results the right waySupport global finance and accounting initiatives including new accounting standards implementationDeliver continuous process improvements and best practices across accounting value streams, leveraging shared services and BPO supportParticipate in cross functional initiatives with a focus on improving the control environment, collaborating with other finance functions (business finance, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Credit) and other support functions (Pricing, Indirect Sourcing, Legal, Compliance, Channel, Regulatory etc)Identify and contribute to working capital and free cashflow improvementsProactively involved in business planning and legal/compliance reviews to identify, assess and address controllership, financial & tax risksLead and develop a high performing and inclusive team recognized by functional colleagues and stakeholdersBe a role model in supporting and driving inclusion, diversity, equity and ethics initiativesSuccess Measures:Timely financial closing and reporting with minimized accounting surprisesOn-time balance sheet reconciliation and deliverablesUnqualified legal entity statutory financial auditTimely and accurate statutory tax reporting and other compliance reportingImproved operational KPIs and efficiencies across accounting operations and value-streamsTimely closure of internal/external/SOX audit itemsContribute to working capital / FCF including cost savings, policy compliance, AR/DSO, Accounts Payable# of continuous improvement projects and hours savingsOptimized entity FX, cashflow, and debt & equity structureHigh team engagement and positive stakeholder feedbackRequired knowledge, experience and educational levelUniversity degree in accounting or finance or relevant disciplineAccounting qualification (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CIMA etc)Progressive track record with 12+ years working experience with MNCs, minimum 5 years+ experience in IndiaExtensive knowledge about financial and management accounting.
