Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and experienced Field Officer Agriculturist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing various agricultural activities on our farm, ensuring efficient crop production, and maintaining high standards of organic farming practices. This role requires a hands-on approach, excellent organizational skills, and a deep understanding of sustainable agriculture.Key Responsibilities:
Crop Scheduling:
Develop and implement crop production schedules to maximize yield and ensure continuous supply.
Monitor and adjust planting schedules based on weather conditions and market demand.
Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery of seeds and other planting materials.
Crop Management:
Oversee the planting, cultivation, and harvesting of crops.
Implement best practices for soil management, irrigation, and fertilization.
Monitor crop growth and health, addressing any issues promptly to ensure optimal yield.
Pest Control:
Develop and implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
Monitor and identify pest infestations, and deploy appropriate organic pest control methods.
Maintain records of pest control activities and outcomes.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate records of farm inputs and outputs.
Manage inventory of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other farming supplies.
Ensure timely procurement and efficient utilization of resources.
Managing Daily Wage Labour:
Supervise and coordinate the activities of daily wage labourers.
Assign tasks and ensure they are completed efficiently and to the required standards.
Provide training and guidance to labourers on organic farming techniques and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field.
Minimum of 1 years of experience in field management, preferably in organic farming.
Strong knowledge of crop management, pest control, and sustainable agriculture practices.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks as required.
