Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Fiber Optic Technician to install, maintain, and repair fiber optic networks. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of fiber laying and splicing techniques, ensuring that fiber optic cables are properly installed, tested, and repaired for optimal performance. This role is vital for the smooth delivery of high-speed internet and communication services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fiber Laying: Install fiber optic cables in various environments, including underground and aerial installations, ensuring accurate placement and minimal disruption.
• Fiber Splicing: Perform fiber optic splicing using fusion or mechanical splicing techniques to ensure proper connections.
• Installation and Testing: Set up and test fiber optic cables and connections, ensuring high-quality signals and efficient network performance.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair fiber optic issues, including breaks, signal loss, and connection problems.
• Network Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance on fiber optic systems to ensure continued optimal performance.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of fiber installations, splicing, testing, and repairs for reporting and quality control.
• Safety Compliance: Follow safety standards and protocols during fiber installation and splicing work to ensure a secure working environment.
• Customer Support: Provide support to customers and answer any queries related to fiber optic installations or repairs.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the network and field teams to ensure timely and effective project completion.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 1-3 years of experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, and maintenance.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in fiber splicing (fusion and mechanical), fiber optic testing tools (OTDR, power meter), and fiber laying techniques.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in fiber optic technology or telecommunications are a plus.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and ability to work in various environments.
• Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical tasks, including working at heights or in confined spaces.
• License: Valid driving license for site visits and installations.
