Position Title: Felder Multi-Boring Machine Operator

Department: Manufacturing/Production

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Felder Multi-Boring Machine Operator to work on Felder's high-precision boring machines. The operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining the Felder multi-boring machine to ensure accurate and efficient drilling of panels and components. This role is vital for achieving high quality output and maintaining production timelines.

Key Responsibilities

1. Machine Setup & Operation:

a. Prepare the Felder multi-boring machine by configuring drill bits, stops, and guides based on technical drawings and specifications.

b. Perform test runs to ensure setup accuracy and make adjustments as needed.

c. Operate the machine to drill holes with precision, ensuring alignment and consistency.

2. Production:

a. Execute drilling operations on wood and wood-based materials in compliance with production plans.

b. Handle various job orders efficiently while minimizing material wastage.

3. Quality Control:

a. Inspect panels and components before and after drilling to verify dimensions and alignment meet specifications.

b. Identify and address any issues, such as misalignment, chipping, or improper depth, promptly.

4. Maintenance:

a. Perform routine maintenance of the Felder multi-boring machine, including cleaning and lubricating moving parts.

b. Monitor tool wear and replace drill bits or components as necessary.

c. Report any mechanical issues and assist with troubleshooting when required.

5. Documentation:

a. Maintain accurate records of production tasks, including material usage, time logs, and job completion details.

b. Document all maintenance activities and communicate any deviations or delays to supervisors.

6. Safety & Organization:

a. Follow all safety protocols to ensure safe operation of the Felder machine and tools.

b. Keep the workspace clean, organized, and free of potential hazards.

7. Team Collaboration:

a. Work closely with other operators and the production team to ensure smooth workflow and meet deadlines.

b. Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding progress, challenges, and suggestions for process improvement.

Qualifications

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of experience operating multi-boring machines, preferably Felder models.
• Knowledge of Felder machine functionalities, settings, and capabilities is highly desirable.

Skills:

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and production blueprints. o Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and make precise adjustments.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in woodworking machinery is an advantage.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs. o Comfortable standing for extended periods and operating machinery in a production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with other Felder woodworking machines (e.g., panel saws, edge banders).
• Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
