An F&B captain, or food and beverage captain, is responsible for providing excellent customer service and ensuring that the food and beverage service runs smoothly:
• Customer service : Greet guests, answer questions, and make recommendations. Address guest complaints or requests.
• Service operations : Ensure the outlet is set up for service and supervise the service team. Monitor dining rooms for seating availability, service, safety, and wellbeing of guests.
• Maintenance : Notify management of maintenance repairs issues.
• Hygiene : Maintain cleanliness of work areas and follow all hygiene standards.
• Safety : Report any employee, guest, and/or vendor incidents and accidents to management.
• Inventory : Plan and control supplies. Ensure minimum wastage, breakage, and spoilage.
• Training : Organize the duty roster of service staff.
• Quality : Maintain standard operating procedures (SOP) for quality.
• Upselling : Use up-selling techniques to increase revenue.
