The Patient Counselor for Eye Hospital will be responsible for providing support and counseling to patients and their families during their visit to the hospital. The counselor will be responsible for ensuring that patients are well-informed about their conditions, treatment options, and recovery process. Additionally, they will be responsible for managing patient expectations, providing emotional support, and addressing any concerns or questions patients may have.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide counseling and support to patients and their families throughout their visit to the hospital.
• Explain medical procedures, diagnoses, and treatment options to patients in a clear and understandable manner.
• Manage patient expectations and address any concerns or questions they may have.
• Provide emotional support and help patients cope with the stress of their medical conditions.
• Ensure that patients are well-informed about their medication and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient counseling sessions.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, or related field.
• Previous experience in counseling or patient care.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to empathize with patients and their families.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Working Conditions:
The Patient Counselor for Eye Hospital will work primarily in a hospital setting, with occasional work in an office environment. They may be required to work long hours, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate patient needs.
Physical Requirements:
The position requires minimal physical effort, but the counselor must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time and use a computer for data entry and communication purposes.
