Your role at Baxter We are seeking a Compliance Manager to serve as the ethics and compliance (E&C) business partner for India, Baxter under the supervision and guidance of the APAC E&C Head. The role is responsible for providing strategic oversight and practical management and guidance to ensure compliance with ethical business practices, company policies and local and global legal/regulatory requirements in India. The Compliance Manager will directly partner with local business and functional leaders to promote a culture of ethics and compliance and drive an enhanced compliance mindset among all members of the organization. Under the supervision/guidance of the APAC E&C Head, the Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing the assessment of business risk for misconduct and noncompliance. He/she partners with the business/function leaders to identify and respond to ethics and compliance related risks within the designated country. He/she will educate and assist business in the effective identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks and will work with key stakeholders to develop approaches to mitigate risk.
Lead change and foster an ethical culture by promoting corporate values of ethics and compliance throughout the business in Baxter India.
Under the supervision/guidance of the APAC E&C Head, the Compliance Manager partners with the local business/function leaders to facilitate and encourage senior management tone at the top to promote ethics & compliance in everything we do. The Compliance Manager supports the tone in the middle by further educating and equipping leaders in India with the skills, authority, and accountability necessary to ensure that their employees are upholding the standards of the organization. The Compliance Manager continuously enables the local leaders to promote an organizational culture that encourages ethical conduct, utilizing the ethics and compliance program to positively affect the culture of the organization.
Lead the ethics and compliance function and manage daily operations in India under the supervision/guidance of the APAC E&C Head, including but not limited to:
Partner with business/function leaders to develop and implement Baxter compliance programs, including such as country Ethics & Compliance Committee, compliance ambassadors/champions program, speak-up program etc.
Partner with the local business/function leaders to provide daily counselling on compliance related questions, including such as the interpretation of compliance policies, the application of compliance policies in daily operations etc.
Gather feedback, provide input, and develop/improve regional policies and procedures when necessary to address additional regional needs. Ensure that these standards are clearly communicated and understood by the employees in India.
Keep close monitoring of legal/regulatory changes and enforcement trends in India, promptly identify the emerging and new compliance risks, and timely update the local leadership team and work on response strategies if necessary.
Support the APAC E&C Head to develop communication and risk management plans to address the changing risk environment. Support compliance risk assessments and monitor management risk mitigation plans in India.
Partner with respective functions such as Legal, Internal Control, Medical Affairs, HR and other functions as necessary in overseeing, reporting and remediating compliance-related issues in India.
Support Global Third-Party Management program and manage the third-party programs within the designated country. Work closely with other functions on third party due diligence investigation reviews. Provide trainings and technical support to local third-party management.
Develop, lead, oversea or implement compliance training within the designated country. Through ongoing training and communication, ensure employees in India are aware of: i) new policies, programs, and procedures, ii) their responsibilities in identifying risks and escalating compliance concerns/questions in the right way and good faith.
What youll bring
Education background
Bachelors degree or above from an accredited colleague or university in finance and/or law
Legal qualification in law is a plus and preferred.
Experience
5+ years of working experience with compliance or legal function in multinational companies (preferably within the healthcare industry), or with international law firms.
Experience of cross functional international working environment and/or matrix organization is preferred.
Skills and qualifications
Strong business leadership, with a proven track record of leading organizations / teams through adverse or difficult business-related situations.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, e.g. to evaluate an organization's governance structure, policies, workplace environment and business activities, identify instances of non-compliance and provide corrective action recommendations per existing policies and procedures.
Have basic data analysis capability using excel and other digital tools.
Substantive knowledge of anti-corruption legal and enforcement environment.
Excellent command of both spoken and written English.

Confident in facing challenges and professionally tackle and manage conflicts, being resilient under high pressure.
