Do you have a passion for invention and self-challenge ?As part of our Battery Engineering group, his/her mission is to assure the introduction of new BMS technology for development of green battery systems for railway traction and auxiliary applications. The BMS Architecture Engineer is responsible for coordinating the research, evaluation and validation steps of new traction and auxiliary battery BMS solutions.He/She must follow the state of the art, define and structure the validation steps of new BMS technologies.He/She is responsible for the documentation of solutions, the follow-up of their application in the project and the growth of reliability.Main ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will utilize your electronics design skills to design, develop and test battery monitoring system for next generation traction and auxiliary batteries. Responsibilities include :-

  • Review high-level battery requirements and translate them into BMS-level specifications.
  • Design BMS from concept to mass production focusing on detailed board level design, detailed design analysis, selection of electronic parts, circuit boards, integrated circuits & components to meet the performance targets.
  • Analyze the design with simulation tools and calculations to verify its conformance to the requirements. (e.g. PSPICE, ANSYS, Verilog or equivalent).
  • Develop schematics and BOMs to satisfy the design requirements. Specify custom parts and PCBs for use in BMS.
  • Develop lay-out guidelines for PCBs and guide Layout Engineers to meet all physical and electrical requirements of BMS.
  • Push the boundaries of technologies to maximise performance and minimise volume.
  • Work with suppliers to develop custom parts where needed and design test methodologies to verify the BMS design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Design, System EE, Cell Engineering, Firmware, Algorithms, etc.) to ensure the product is developed on time and on budget
  • Create and manage tasks related to Verification and Validation (V&V), including the development of Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Provide support to Functional Safety and Cybersecurity teams, collaborating to ensure the safety and security of Battery Management Systems.
  • Conduct design reviews, incorporate team feedbacks and release the design documents for builds.
  • Specify production test methods and limits and work with industry partners to realize design.
  • Conduct design validation on prototypes to implement the design.
  • Conduct investigations and prepare reports for problems or issues.
  • Ensure Battery Monitoring System effectively monitors warranty-related data such as State of Health (SoH), State of Power (SoP), warnings and instances, and cyclic & calendar life counters.
Qualification, Knowledge & Experience
  • BTech/ MTech degree in electrical/ electronic / computer/ control engineering.
  • Strong EE Fundamentals in electronic circuit design/ development with microcontroller-based embedded systems.
  • More than 5 years relevant industry experience in Battery Management System (BMS) design, development, or testing, preferably in railway, aviation or automative industry.
  • Possess strong understanding of BMS functionalities, including hardware and software components, HV/LV topologies, and system architecture.
  • Experience in analog and/or power electronics design, Schematics capture and PCB lay-out design for mixed signal boards.
  • Good knowledge of inter-module communications protocols.
  • Knowledge of scripting for test automation and data analysis desired.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety and Cybersecurity principles is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Technical Project Management. Training/ certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of industrial development cycles (V-cycle, quality reviews, ...).
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) required for internal and external communications.
