Position Title: Engineering Team Leader

Job Location: Bangalore, KA-India



JOB PURPOSE:

To direct and participate in the design and development of complex, major engineering product or process projects for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability.

JOB DUTIES: The key role of a lead engineer is that of principal contributor on a design or CPPD team responsible for development of a product, process, and/or both. This position will develop solutions for complex technical engineering problems and will be accountable for the design or improvement of complex systems or processes. In addition to demonstrating technical expertise, a person in this position will be called on to act as a team and/or project leader.

Key areas of responsibility encountered in this role may include any or all of the following:

• Lead complex project or program for new product introduction.
• Understand customers\' needs and product application
• Manage project/program to the plan
• Own the product cost and develop strategies to achieve target costs.
• Develop product acceptance criteria including performance, reliability and durability targets
• Regularly communicate updates and project status to senior management and other stakeholders.
• Keep up to date on new technologies or develop new technologies.
• Lead competitive benchmarking
• Support and direct other engineers during product development and testing.

Success factors -Strong Communication, demonstrating excellent analytical skills and a mastery of engineering concepts. Major challenges facing incumbents are meeting design goals for cost, reliability, performance, timelines and managing multiple priorities. This position must keep up to date on changing customer needs as the project progresses, understand complex technical problems and demonstrate the ability to develop creative solutions.

Incumbents must manage their own development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology. This position must develop increased technical breadth and/or depth as well as gaining increased business management skills.

Key skills and Knowledge requirement:

• Thorough understanding of the new product introduction (NPI) process
• Knowledge of the design and working of diesel and gas gensets
• Experience to lead Diesel/Gas gensets/engine programs.
• Expertise on Diesel/Gas gensets/engine components design & applications
• Through understanding of genset product requirements, market trends and regulatory requirements.
• Must be a self-starter with strong analytical skills and technical leadership
• Spatial & Conceptual design
• Strong focus on product cost

• Must be a team player with good communication and interpersonal skills

Required Qualifications:

• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree with 8 - 10 years in progressive engineering assignments to gain a mastery of complex system design and concepts.

Desired Qualifications:

• Master\'s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering plus 6 to 8 years of experience.
