The candidate will direct the development and implementation of publishing platform and services which enables content discovery for end-user They will be responsible for building and maintaining tools and high performance API services that scale to millions of users They will play a pivotal role in fostering discussions on the scalability of the platform and will collaborate extensively to chart technical roadmaps, harness industry standards on security, and optimize platform architecture Desirable experience: 12+ years of experience in building and scaling complex software systems. Location: Bengaluru Reporting Relationship: Head of Backend, Digital Business Business/Channel/Function: Digital Key Responsibilities: Solution-Oriented Approach Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration across cross-functional teams (product, design, QA) to define project scope, roadmaps, and deliverables. Adept at translating business requirements into clear technical designs, ensuring alignment with product vision. Roles & Responsibility Provide technical leadership and vision for the publishing team in engineering. Oversee the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of high-quality services and tools. Collaborate with engineering teams, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define roadmaps, translate requirements into technical specifications, and ensure alignment across teams. Lead and mentor a team of engineers to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high quality standards. This includes task delegation, performance management, and fostering a positive and collaborative team environment. Manage the engineering teams workflow and ensure adherence to best practices for software development, including CI/CD pipelines, security audits, and code reviews. Identify and implement technical solutions to complex challenges in publishing. Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the industry and be a thought leader within the team. Be accountable for the technical health and performance of the platform. Oversee the implementation and ongoing management of cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Champion DevOps practices to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery. Participate in the hiring process for new engineering team members. Must possess the ability to switch between execution and strategy mode most effortlessly. Technical Strong proficiency in designing and developing RESTful APIs. (5+ years of experience) In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly AWS services. (3+ years of experience) Mastery of backend technologies like Java, Node.js, or Golang. Familiarity with Python or ReactJS is a plus. Experience with caching architectures (Redis, Memcached) and queues ( Amazon SQS, RabbitMQ or Apache Kafka .) Proven ability to leverage CDNs for optimal content delivery and security. Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines for efficient software development and deployment. (Exposure is good, knowledge of containerization tools like Kubernetes is a plus) c
