The Engineer (VED Functional Development) is responsible for delivering optimized performance of following vehicle functions as per the defined targets in the project scope within the timelines,
The role involves the co-ordination with cross functional teams, Support in preparation of test matrix and micro-schedules, instrumentation, data analysis, performing and supervising the vehicle functional tests along with report preparation for the projects under his responsibility.
The Engineer (VED Functional Development) should understand and ensure all tests comply with the legal and regulatory requirements, while adhering to current Hero best practices outlined in SOPs, STPs and Engineering Guidelines.
A Day in the life
Interpretation of IPC and provide inputs to GPP & MLH for possible IPC improvements.
Benchmark performance profiling to produce clear conclusion on development direction.
Proposal and Agreement on project functional targets based on the benchmark performance profiling results and project scope.
Finalisation of initial vehicle specifications, considering VI and design team's feedback on layout constraints.
Development of vehicle dynamics (ride & handling), Ride comfort, ergonomics and brake performance to deliver targeted behaviour by following VED FD current best practices outlined in SOPs, STPs and Engineering Guidelines.
Testing of vehicles subjectively and objectively, instrumentation, data acquisition and data analysis to solve critical issues.
Coordination of personnel, vehicles and parts for testing activities, preparation of test matrix and testing schedules in line with project timelines
Management of reporting system to ensure appropriate documentation of chassis development activities.
Drafting or updating of operational and testing standards and procedures for functional development activities.
Conducting CFT ride experience trials with GPP, Plant, service, marketing teams and get agreement on development direction at different development stages.
Development of advance technologies based on the VED tech road map.
Support in Hero motosports national racing development activities.
Academic Qualification & ExperienceBE/ B.Tech in Mechanical/Automotive/ Mechatronics with minimum 4 year's of experience.Technical Skills/Knowledge
Knowledge of vehicle layout, components and parameters affecting vehicle functions.
Understanding of vehicle dynamics, Suspension and brake system working principles.
Hands on experience of instrumentation and data acquisition systems such as 2D, V box etc will be valued.
Experience of motorcycle riding and subjective evaluation of vehicle functions will be acknowledged.
Basic knowledge of CAD software such as CATIA, SOLIDWORKS etc. would be appreciated.
