Summary Materials and Processes Engineering Department from GE Gas Power Vernova, India is seeking a Material Characterization Engineer for conducting material analysis on gas turbine components including coatings. The engineer will also have responsibility test and analyze materials subject to corrosion studies to support EGR activities. Essential Responsibilities Conduct material analysis on materials used in gas turbines (steels and nickel-base alloys) Develop and follow processes to understand coatings behavior by characterizing microstructure of coated samples. Understand fatigue properties of various coatings/substrate combinations by getting involved into fatigue testing and analysis of test data. Analyze corrosion tested samples for understanding the effect of EGR on GT/HRSG materials Maintain the quality plan for the lab according to ISO 17025 Work with global counterparts in the US in strategic materials selection for gas turbine components Work with the technical leader and manager in the technical growth of the team Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments to the project leads Help and provide necessary support to team member in resolving technical issues / problems during Projects/test execution. Work effectively within cross-functional engineering and global Research teams Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with MPE policies and procedures. Work with external suppliers in procuring materials and test rig set-up/testing Qualifications/Requirements Edison Engineer who has completed 4 rotations. M.S/M.Tech in materials science engineering with emphasis on material characterization and analysis 1 - 3 years of technical experience in relevant field Experience with setting up and using material characterization tools and equipment\'s such as optical microscope, digital microscope, Scanning Electron Microscope Experience in sample preparation for material analysis such as cutting, mounting, polishing Experience with using hardness and micro-hardness testers Excellent knowledge on physical metallurgy and mechanical behavior of steels and Ni-based alloys Excellent presentation and communication skills Knowledge of ISO 17025 standard Experience in characterization of coatings and corrosion tested samples Desired Characteristics Excellent Experience in setting up and maintenance of material characterization equipment Experience in advance materials characterization techniques.
