Basic Details Primary Role type (Technical, Executive or Managerial) =Executive Job Grade =IC-L4C/L4D Function =Machine Shop Business Unit =Industrial Location =Lucknow Reporting to (grade and Job Title) =Manager, NPD & Parts machining Roles & Responsibilities The Engineer, CNC Programming (Turning) will play a crucial role at PTC\xe2\x80\x99s BU, ensuring the efficient and accurate programming of CNC machines specifically tailored for turning operations. This position requires a highly skilled individual with expertise in CNC programming, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the production team to optimize manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize CNC programs for Turning operations using CAM software and tools like Mazatrol and Solid Cam, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and optimal cutting performance by analyzing engineering drawings, CAD models, and material compatibility.
Conduct feasibility studies and provide recommendations for tooling selection, fixturing strategies, and cutting parameters to improve overall production efficiency.
Set up CNC Turning machines, perform calibration and verification, and conduct thorough program verification through simulation or trial machining to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and adherence to tight tolerances, implementing quality control measures as necessary.
Provide technical expertise and support to machine operators and production personnel during setup, troubleshooting, and operation of CNC equipment.
Collaborate with maintenance teams to address equipment malfunctions or programming-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
Conduct machining feasibility studies, team discussions on new product machining processes, and implement strategies for cycle time reduction and process streamlining, optimizing machining efficiency and quality through careful planning and tool selection.
Collaborate with suppliers to design, specify, and procure cutting tools, holders, and fixtures, and approve consumables and materials based on compatibility and cost-effectiveness, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to material specifications (material grades such as Titanium-Grade C2/C5, Inconel 625, CK3MCun, WCB, CF8M).
Ensure a safe work environment, maintain compliance with ISO 9001/14001/45001 and AS-9100 standards, and implement energy-saving measures to optimize resource usage and minimize environmental impact.
Conduct Gemba walks to identify Kaizen opportunities and engage in continuous improvement activities such as 5S, LEAN/ Six Sigma and TPM initiatives, ensuring the successful implementation and documentation as per relevant standards.
Follow and ensure adherence to all prescribed safety procedures and wear PPE as prescribed in Hazard Assessment document for the job.
Sort shop orders into groups to maximize materials utilization and minimize machine setup time.
Ensuring Product safety and prevent the FOD and Counterfeit parts in their concerned area.
Desired Candidate Profile Education and Certifications:
Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering or a related field.
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering will be preferable.
Experience:
1+ years of Turning operation experience in VMC/HMC ( Vertical machining center/Horizontal machining center)
Previous work experience as a CNC programmer is must.
Knowledge of electronics (control panels, PLCs), CNCs/CMMs, and machine tools.
Experience in the aerospace casting industry or precision castings industry will be highly preferred.
Technical / Functional Expertise & other competencies:
Extensive knowledge of CNC programming, machine operation and maintenance required.
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proven history of working with gauges and calipers.
