ABOUT THE ROLE: Comcast seek a talented SRE automation engineer to join our growing team supporting Corporate Business Solutions. The ideal candidate possesses specialist experience in SRE services, automation and streamline system operations. This is an important role within our organization. The candidate will be the primary SME providing operational guidance for the support of cloud-based solutions. The role sits within our cloud engineering squads.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 3-4 years work experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or similar role
• Configuration management: use Chef and Ansible to effectively manage our infrastructure
• Infrastructure as code: use Terraform and GitLab CI/CD for automation and leverage cloud technologies to meet our goals
• Systems: manage, configure and troubleshoot operating system issues, storage (block and object), networking (VPCs, proxies and CDNs), and administer high-availability clusters
• Monitoring and instrumentation: implement metrics in AWS CloudWatch and Data Dog log management and related system events
• Engineering practices: availability, reliability and scalability, as well as disaster recovery
• Work in a variety of languages: Shell, Python
• Planning: familiarity with agile methodologies; use epics, issues to drive projects
• Organization: workload organization, OKR leadership
• Document all the things so you don't need to learn the same thing twice
• Leading and contributing to scope and designs for issues, epics, and OKRs
• Contributing to create and update runbooks and general documentation,
• Completing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and perform readiness reviews
• Improving team practices through code reviews, handoffs of work and incidents

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Have an enthusiastic, go-for-it attitude
• Relevant training and/or certifications as a Site Reliability Engineer
• Minimum of a 2+ year IT related degree and 3-4 years of production systems administration/support, or equivalent work experience
• Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
• Ability to code and script
• Experience with systems and IT operations
• Strong grasp of automation tools
• Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
• Working knowledge and experience with at least some of the following:
+ Linux system design and administration (installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, patching, log analysis, performance tuning, etc.)
+ AWS Cloud platform design and administration (compute, storage, DB, migration, network & content delivery services, etc.)
+ Scripting (Shell, Python, etc.)
+ Caching (Varnish, Memcached, etc.)
+ Web server platforms (Apache, Nginx, etc.)
+ Storage platforms (MySQL, ElasticSearch, etc.)
+ Log tools (Syslog, Logstash, Kibana, etc.)
+ Automation tools (Ansible, Jenkins, etc.)
+ Monitoring tools (Nagios, MRTG, etc.)
+ Security tools (SELinux, IPTables, OSSEC, etc.)
