This senior-level position will focus on developing and applying AI methodologies to drive advances in drug discovery and biomolecular design. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to Stony Brookxe2x80x99s initiative to leverage AI for scientific discovery, addressing critical societal challenges in biotechnology, clean energy, and emerging technologies.Responsibilities Include

  • Leading a well-funded research program in AI-driven scientific discovery, focusing on multidisciplinary applications within materials and biomolecular design.
  • Collaborating with faculty in the Department, the College, and across the campus, including the Institute for Advanced Computational Science (IACS), the Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology, and Stony Brookxe2x80x99s AI Innovation Institute to develop a center of excellence in Scientific Machine Learning (SciML) and high-performance computing.
  • Mentoring and supervising a diverse body of graduate students, fostering a new generation of interdisciplinary AI experts.
  • Engaging in service and teaching responsibilities aligned with the Departmentxe2x80x99s educational mission and Stony Brookxe2x80x99s strategic research focus.

Distinguished research record in artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning, with demonstrated expertise in applications to biomolecular and/or drug design. Established track record of scholarly achievements, high-impact publications, and significant research funding. Demonstrated leadership in the field with an international reputation for outstanding research.Preferred QualificationsStrong foundation in statistical methods, with a focus on their integration with geometry and physics-informed AI techniques. Expertise in applying these methods to advance biotechnology research. Experience in interdisciplinary research, with the potential to extend expertise into energy-related or other strategic priority areas. Proven excellence in teaching and the ability to incorporate cutting-edge research into the curriculum.
