Emergency Medical Officer
Job Description
The Emergency Medical Officer (EMO) is responsible for providing immediate and effective medical care to patients in the emergency department. This role involves diagnosing and treating a variety of medical conditions, stabilizing patients, and determining the appropriate course of action, including hospital admission, further diagnostic tests, or discharge with follow-up care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Assessment and Treatment:
• Perform initial assessment and triage of patients presenting to the emergency department.
• Diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions, including trauma, infections, cardiovascular events, and other emergencies.
• Administer medication, perform procedures, and utilize medical equipment as necessary to stabilize patients.
2. Emergency Procedures:
• Perform emergency medical procedures such as intubation, CPR, wound suturing, and fracture management.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including blood work, imaging studies etc.
