Electronics Technician II (Radar and Communications)



Required Experience

• Two or more years' Communication and/or Radar experience including:
• Field installation and testing, calibration, troubleshooting and acceptance testing.
• Testing Radar systems up to and including Ka-Band.
• Radar to millimeter wave frequency measurements. High power Radar measurement and high voltage troubleshooting.
• Mission Operations and Weapons test range systems experience is desired.
• Familiarity with Allen-Bradley hardware and software, desired.
• Basic knowledge and ability to learn the use and operation of transmitter amplifiers to include Klystrons, Travelling Wave Tubes (TWT's), Vacuum Tubes and transistor devices.
• Ability to effectively use high frequency/high power, Radar, and millimeter wave electronic equipment with Radar calibration to perform complex measurements in both time and frequency domains.
• Familiarity with coaxial and waveguide Radar switching, radar protective and T/R switches, analog and digital control hardware, Radar shielding practices.
• Read test procedures, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, schematics and drawings to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.
• Use electronic test equipment.
• Perform diagnostic testing and analyze results. Troubleshoot various types of circuits at component level, including analog, digital and microprocessor circuits.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures, test results and problem resolution when necessary.
• Visually inspect printed circuit boards and assemblies


Qualifications

• Physical ability to climb and work at heights up to 50 ft.
• Possess Frequentis IVSR Certification
• The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
• Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
• Must be able to meet the requirements to enter the Republic of Marshall Islands.
• Must be able to possess and maintain a U.S. passport.
• Must possess and maintain a DoD (Department of Defense) Secret security clearance.
• Work independently with limited guidance
• Understanding of the unique safety issues associated with working at high power Radar and X-radiation levels that are common in this work environment.
