Job Summary: The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and emergency electrical maintenance and repairs on all electrical systems, equipment, and machinery in the facility. This role ensures all electrical equipment is operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards. The technician will also assist with installations, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and improve the overall reliability of electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems, including circuit boards, motors, transformers, and control panels.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical malfunctions in equipment and machinery to ensure minimal downtime.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and electrical codes during all maintenance activities.
• Install, modify, or upgrade electrical systems and components as required.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to assist in repairs and installations.
• Conduct electrical testing and inspections to identify potential issues and ensure proper functionality.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff and departments to resolve electrical issues and improve system performance.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and systems.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and urgent repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
• Maintain inventory of electrical parts, tools, and equipment needed for repairs and maintenance.
• Suggest improvements to electrical systems and equipment to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an electrical apprenticeship or technical training is preferred.
• Experience: Proven experience (X+ years) in electrical maintenance or a related field, preferably in an industrial or commercial environment.
• Certifications: Certification in electrical maintenance (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, National Electric Code (NEC) certification, or equivalent) is preferred.
• Skills:
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and circuitry.
• Proficient in using electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and electrical diagrams.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in electrical maintenance.
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry heavy tools and equipment.
• Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights (as required).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to urgent situations.
Working Conditions:
• Full-time position; may require overtime or shift work, including evenings and weekends, depending on the needs of the facility.
• Exposure to electrical hazards, but proper safety gear and training will be provided.
• The role may involve standing for long periods, as well as bending, kneeling, and climbing.
