Electrical Draughtsman

Location: Trivandrum, Kerala

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
• Develop electrical system designs and ensure they meet regulatory standards and project specifications.
• Coordinate with engineers and other technical teams to interpret design requirements and ensure electrical systems are integrated correctly within the overall construction plans.
• Review and modify designs based on feedback from engineers, architects, or clients.
• Prepare detailed drawings for electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, wiring layouts, and control systems.
• Assist in the preparation of specifications for electrical equipment and materials.
• Ensure all drawings are accurate and in line with the latest electrical codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
• Maintain and update electrical drawings throughout the construction phases, ensuring compliance with changes or revisions.
• Prepare as-built drawings and final documentation for project handover.
• Conduct site visits (if necessary) to understand specific requirements or troubleshoot design issues.
• Collaborate with the procurement team to identify and select electrical materials and equipment needed for the project.
• Ensure timely delivery of electrical drafts to meet project deadlines.

Requirements:

• Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
• Experience: Minimum 4-5 years of experience in electrical drafting, preferably in the construction or building services sector.
• Proficient in AutoCAD or similar CAD software for drafting electrical systems.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC).
• Understanding of construction drawings, blueprints, and project documentation.
• Familiarity with electrical design software (e.g., Revit MEP) is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as specifications and engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in drawing preparation.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of safety codes and regulations related to electrical installations in construction.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in electrical drafting or related courses.
• Experience in a construction company or engineering consultancy.
• Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) is an advantage.
