Job Title Electrical Designer- firmware (FPGA)-STETJob TitleElectrical Designer- firmware (FPGA)-STETYou have the opportunity.Manage high impact, complex sustaining & transfer projects that enables Philips to reduce risk, improve profitability, align with Philips strategic supply base, and optimize supply chain flexibility. The primary function within this role is to execute engineering activities through the course of fast-paced, high-quality transfer and sustaining projects.
You will be responsible for driving meaningful and innovative product development, generating ideas/concepts in feature development to improve quality and reduce cost, as well as performing the role of a technical lead in taking the product development through manufacturing release while transferring products between suppliers and manage sustaining of different devices by following PDLM-MLD process.
To be part of an exciting team and contribute to the design, development and maintenance of medical system, components, and products. In this role of Firmware Engineer (FPGA), you are responsible for the development and maintenance of Systems/Subsystems firmware and will gain substantial knowledge of complex systems in the medical environment. Together with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, you play a crucial role in getting these systems/sub-systems to the required performance, by understanding the electrical, electronics and controls and looking for the best solutions within those boundaries. This requires broad orientation, conceptual skills and a can do mentality.You are responsible for:

  • Responsible for understanding the Design, and Execute proto parts and integration of his module/sub-system in accordance with the higher-level architectural Requirements
  • Conducts Concept & Feasibility studies.
  • Ensures that there is proper documentation for the developed design
  • Ensures the mutual consistency and efficient integration of the separate components in modular design that meets the product specification
  • Ensures that his design modules meet the product certification requirements
  • Is abreast of / participates in standards identification required for testing, designing
  • Draws up personal schedule and reports on progress.
  • Contributes to the Work Breakdown Structure/ the planning process of his/her area.
  • Keeps abreast of technical developments in own field through study of literature and technical contacts.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with country specific regulations
  • Communicates with Suppliers, for design transfer, query solving
  • Proficient in Component Selection, De-rating analysis

  • Completed engineering studies at university level; BE/BTech/ME/MTech in Electronics/Electrical
  • 6 - 11 years of experience in CPLD/FPGA/ ASIC Design & Development
  • Experience with Micro-semi, lattice, Altera or Xilinx CPLD & FPGA Devices.
  • Experience of coding in VHDL/Verilog languages, development of testbench
  • Hands-on experience on multiple FPGA development tools such as Vivado, ISE, Vitis, Quartus, Libero & Lattice tool.
  • Experience in using the IP cores, SOC, filter implementation inside the FPGAs.
  • Solid knowledge on the STA, Timing constraints, PAR work-flow.
  • Familiar in using the DDR3, DDR2, SDRAM, SRAM, Flash memories.
  • Experience developing software for complex systems in regulated industry (medical, automotive, aviation)
  • Familiar with version Control tools like GIT, Azur
  • Working Knowledge of serial / network communications including UART, I2C, SPI, Ethernet (TCP/IP, UDP), CAN, RS485.
  • Knowledge in using the ILA, Matlab - Simulink, Tcl for FPGA debugging & testing.
  • Knowledge of IEC 62304/ISO13485 standards is an added advantage.
  • Quality mindset in design and documentation.
  • Disciplined team player, ability to work independently
  • Guide & mentor young engineers in team.
  • Good Communication skills
Good To Have
  • Ability to understand and debug problems across hardware/software boundaries. Strong debugging skills, ability to use oscilloscope and logic analyzer for troubleshooting.
  • Exposure to International Medical Quality and Regulatory Standards e.g., IEC, FDA, UL, CE, CSA, BIS etc. will be preferred.
  • Familiarity with ARM microcontroller architectures and interfaces like SPI and UART is a plus
  • Hands-on experience with tools like Agile, Clear-quest, Windchill or equivalent.
  • Experience in the field of Medical Devices product design e.g., X-Ray, Mammography systems
