What we\'re looking for

We are seeking individuals who will efficiently oversee the service delivery function for an electrical engineering team within the Global Electrical & Control TSO. This position also involves assessing marine electrical and control design elements in compliance with relevant international standards and classification rules. This assessment will be conducted using appropriate procedures, experience, and expertise suitable for evaluating designs related to new construction, conversions, and existing vessels. Additionally, the role entails offering technical assistance to ship and marine platform designers as well as operators.

The role
  • Lead a small team of electrical engineers, ensuring work is delivered within budget and on schedule.
  • Work closely with the Global Electrical and Control Manager and fellow team leads to maintain consistency and uphold high technical standards in project deliverables.
  • Interpret business plans and cost structures to establish goals and objectives for the TSO function, including necessary system, process, and procedure changes.
  • Assist senior management in implementing changes and developments within the TSO function to meet future business and commercial demands, enhancing Lloyd\'s Register\'s competitive position.
  • Ensure that systems, processes, and procedures are effective and efficient to meet the needs of both internal and external clients.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the team through recruitment, performance management, training, and development efforts to maintain a competitive service.
  • Conduct design appraisal and consultancy activities in compliance with various Class Rules and statutory codes, primarily focusing on marine electrical, automation, and electronic aspects for merchant ships, with potential involvement in other ship types and offshore projects as needed.
  • Approve electrical and control equipment and components against various statutory codes and Class Rules, including Type Approval activities.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide specialized technical advice to global internal and external clients, including designers, shipyards, LR surveyors, and specialists.
  • Contribute to Rule Development Projects and Proposals to ensure alignment with the latest industry innovations.
  • Participate in bid and win processes for new projects by accurately estimating time requirements and developing scopes of work.
  • Generate required deliverables within established parameters and review the work of other team members as requested.
  • Actively seek to ensure client satisfaction and identify opportunities for new client engagements.
  • Execute activities in accordance with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • The above job description may not preclude the additional duties as assigned by the Global Electrical & Control Discipline Manager or the line manager.
What you bring
  • A bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic/Telecommunication Engineering, Marine Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution recognized by Lloyd\'s Register.
  • Possess relevant years of experience in working with electrical and control designs, including the application of Class Rules in ship design and construction. Experience in applying Class Rules to offshore or large naval auxiliaries is advantageous. Candidates with less experience may also be considered for a lower-level position.
  • Membership in an appropriate professional institution.
  • Attainment of Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet LR and Clients\' deadlines while performing well under pressure.
  • Exhibit proficiency in the English language, both written and spoken, commensurate with the demands of the role. Additionally, should have the capability to produce detailed technical reports and design appraisal documents.
  • Possess an understanding of the responsibilities of a Classification Society and the interplay between Class Rules and Statutory Regulations.
