The role Collaborate as a member of the Global Electrical Control Discipline team to conduct design appraisal and consultancy in accordance with various Class Rules and statutory codes. The primary focus will be on marine electrical, automation, and electronic aspects for merchant ships, while also engaging in other ship types and offshore projects as required by business demands. Perform the approval of electrical and control equipment and components, ensuring compliance with diverse statutory codes and Class Rules. Engage in Type Approval activities for electrical and control equipment. Cultivate and sustain positive relationships with clients and internal stakeholders. Offer specialized technical guidance to global internal and external clients, including designers, shipyards, LR surveyors, and specialists, at a senior level. Contribute to Rule Development Projects and Proposals as necessary to ensure that our Rules remain current and aligned with the latest industry advancements. Participate in the bidding and project acquisition processes by accurately estimating time requirements and developing scopes of work. Generate the required deliverables within predefined parameters and formats, while also reviewing the work of other team members when requested. Proactively seek to enhance client satisfaction and identify opportunities for new engagements with our clients. Execute activities in strict accordance with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards. Remain open to taking on other duties as assigned by the Global Electrical Control Discipline Manager or the line manager. What you bring A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic/Telecommunication Engineering, Marine Engineering, or an equivalent qualification recognized by Lloyd s Register. Demonstrated relevant years of pertinent experience in working with electrical and control designs, including the application of Class Rules to ship design and construction. Experience in applying Class Rules to offshore or large naval auxiliaries is considered advantageous. Candidates with less experience may also be considered for a junior position. Membership in an appropriate professional institution. Attainment of Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status. The capability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team, adept at prioritizing tasks to meet LR and client deadlines, even in high-pressure scenarios. Proficiency in the English language, encompassing both written and oral communication skills, aligned with the demands of the role. Additionally, the ability to compose detailed technical reports and design appraisal documents is essential. Preferably, a comprehensive understanding of the responsibilities associated with a Classification Society, as well as a grasp of the interface between Class Rules and Statutory Regulations
