About Position:

The position is EHS officer with 5-6 experience in implementation of EHS aspects at under construction project site. The position is based out Palakkad Municipal Solid Waste Biogas Project Construction Site. The candidate will report to Head of the Project with functional reporting to General Manager ESG (Global Operations).

We are looking for male candidate who is self-motivated to drive the implementation of Environment Health Safety & Social (EHSS) Management Systems at under construction project in accordance with Company policies & procedures, local state specific regulations and Good International Industry Practice (GIIP) such as IFC Performance Standards on Environment & Social Sustainability.

Qualification & Experience & Expectations:

1. B. Tech Environment Engineering or Masters in Environment Sciences/Management with Diploma in Environment/Occupational Health & Safety. (NEBOSH/IOSH/ADIS will be preferred)

2. 5-6 experience to handle construction site level Environment Health and Safety Day to day operations.

3. Competent to connect with contractors, supervisors, workers to drive and implement the Environment Health Safety and Social Culture at construction site for zero non-compliance for environment and safety.

4. Self-motivated and capable to handle contractors for EHS improvements.

5. Report agreed KPIs to management in form of monthly reports.

The roles and responsibilities of an Environment Health & Safety (EHS) Officer can vary depending on the organization and industry, but generally include the following:

1. Developing and Implementing Policies: Creating, updating, and implementing environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

2. Capacity Building & Training: Conducting tool box talks, training sessions and workshops to educate contractors, supervisor, workers on safety protocols, environmental regulations, and emergency procedures.

3. Risk Assessment and Management: Identifying potential hazards in the construction workplace, assessing risks, and developing strategies to mitigate or eliminate them.

4. Incident Investigation: Investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and prevent recurrence. This may involve conducting interviews, reviewing procedures, and analysing data.

5. Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring contractor compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to environmental protection, occupational health, and workplace safety.

6. Safety Inspections and Audits: Conducting regular inspections and audits of contractors, facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.

7. Emergency Preparedness: Developing and implementing emergency response plans for various scenarios in under construction sites such as working at height, machine failure, fires, chemical spills, natural disasters, or medical emergencies.

8. Hazardous Material Management: Managing the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with applicable regulations and best practices.

9. EHS Data Management: Maintaining records of environment and safety inspections, incident reports, training session for deputed contractors, and other relevant data to track compliance, performance of contractors.

10. Ergonomics and Workplace Design: Assessing workplace ergonomics and recommending improvements to prevent injuries and promote employee well-being.

11. Collaboration with Other Departments: Working closely with other departments, such as civil, design, project planning, human resources, and facilities management, to integrate safety and environmental considerations into business processes and decision-making.

12. Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for improvement in environmental safety and governance performance through data analysis, feedback mechanisms, and industry best practices.

13. Community Relations: Engaging with local communities, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to address concerns, promote transparency, and demonstrate commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

14. Emergency Response Team Leadership: Serving as a leader or coordinator of the emergency response team during crises or disasters, ensuring effective communication and swift action to protect lives and property.

15. EHS Management System: Drive the implementation of ESG Management system at under construction project in accordance with IFC Performance Standards ESMS guidelines.

16. Vendor and Contractor Safety Management: Ensuring that vendors and contractors working on-site adhere to safety requirements and regulations. Conducting pre-qualification assessments, safety orientations, and monitoring contractor performance.

17. Leadership and Mentorship: Providing leadership and guidance to site personnel on safety matters. Serving as a mentor to promote safety awareness and accountability at all levels of the organization to achieve zero incident for environment and safety matters.

18. Consultations & Engagements: Establish site specific EHS committee and drive the monthly EHS meetings for all appointed contractors to act and close EHS non compliances in time bound manner.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ?600,000.00 - ?700,000.00 per year
