Job Description

Company Introduction:

Catapharma Group was formed in 1986 with the coming together of three young chemical engineers with a strong desire to apply their technical skills to productive industrial activity. Presently, the group comprises of around 110 people with a core activity of manufacture of pharmaceutical intermediates and fine chemicals. This is backed up by well-equipped research lab and pilot plant for development of new products and up-gradation of existing processes. The group is currently seeking enthusiastic candidates to join their EHS team in Sinnar.

Job Context:

The Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring the organization's EHS programs, ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role involves conducting risk assessments, implementing safety procedures, conducting training sessions, and ensuring the organization maintains a safe and healthy working environment. The EHS Officer will report directly to the Manager of EHS and Regulatory and will work closely with other departments to ensure that all EHS protocols are effectively integrated into daily operations.

Job Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance:

o Ensure the organization's compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal EHS regulations.

o Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS policies and procedures.

o Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EHS laws and regulations and communicate changes to the Manager, EHS and Regulatory.

Risk Assessment and Management:

o Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards.

o Implement corrective actions and mitigation strategies to minimize risks.

o Monitor the effectiveness of safety measures and make recommendations for improvements.

Training and Education:

o Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, including new hire orientations, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures.

o Ensure that all employees are adequately trained and understand the EHS policies and procedures.

Incident Investigation:

o Lead investigations into workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses.

o Prepare reports on findings and recommend preventive measures.

o Ensure that all incidents are documented and reported in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Emergency Preparedness:

o Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, fire safety, and spill response.

o Coordinate and conduct emergency drills and training sessions.

Environmental Management:

o Monitor and manage environmental compliance, including waste management, pollution control, and resource conservation.

o Assist in the preparation of environmental reports and documentation as required by regulatory agencies.

Safety Inspections:

o Conduct regular safety inspections of the workplace to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.

o Ensure that all safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are maintained and used correctly.

Reporting and Documentation:

o Prepare and maintain accurate records of EHS activities, including safety inspections, incident reports, and training logs.

o Assist the Manager, EHS and Regulatory, in preparing reports for senior management and regulatory authorities.

Continuous Improvement:

o Identify opportunities for improving EHS practices and procedures.

o Work with the EHS team and other departments to implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
