The EHS Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations within the organization. This role involves implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. The EHS Officer works closely with management, employees, and external agencies to maintain a safe and compliant workplace.
Key Responsibilities :
• Policy Implementation :
• Develop and enforce EHS policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements.
• Conduct regular reviews and updates of safety policies to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
• Risk Assessment and Mitigation :
• Identify potential hazards and conduct risk assessments for workplace activities and environments.
• Develop and implement control measures to mitigate identified risks.
• Training and Awareness :
• Conduct EHS training sessions for employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Promote awareness of safety practices and environmental sustainability through campaigns and workshops.
• Incident Management :
• Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes.
• Prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Compliance and Audits :
• Ensure compliance with local, national, and international EHS regulations.
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and assessments to identify non-compliance issues.
• Emergency Preparedness :
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
• Conduct drills and training to ensure readiness for emergencies such as fire, spills, or natural disasters.
• Environmental Management :
• Monitor and manage waste disposal, emissions, and resource usage to minimize environmental impact.
• Ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
• Documentation and Reporting :
• Maintain accurate records of EHS activities, training, incidents, and compliance.
• Prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies as required.
• Collaboration and Support :
• Work closely with project teams to integrate EHS considerations into planning and execution.
• Provide support and guidance on safety matters to employees and contractors.
Qualifications and Skills :
• Education :
Diploma or degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
Certification in EHS (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH) is preferred.
• Experience :
• 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
• Experience in interior fit-out projects or related industries is an advantage.
• Skills :
• Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and best practices.
• Proficiency in risk assessment and incident investigation techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to develop and deliver effective training programs.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
