• Identify and eliminate or reduce artifact contamination of the recording of the EEG and video
• Acquire, review, and present selected data to the clinical neurophysiologist
• Follow proper protocol following the completion of the LTME procedure
• Explains EEG procedure and preparation to patient and makes him/her as comfortable as possible
• Applies and fills electrodes
• Order supplies, such as collodion, electrodes, acetone, EEG paper, ink and pens
• Complete paperwork, including charge slips for EEG
• Monitors patient's condition during testing
• Performs all aspects of EEG recordings according to departmental policy and in a professional and personalized manner
• Assists Neurologist in performing EMG procedures according to department policy, and with a focus on patient comfort and physician's needs
Qualifications for EEG technician
• Prior experience working with pediatric patient
• Comfortable working with epilepsy patients
• Familiarity International 10-20 system
• Compassionate and empathetic
• Completion of approved course work in electroencephalographic technology
• Must be registered with ABRET or obtain within a year from hire date
