Vision Empower (VE) is a not-for-profit organization incubated at IIIT Bangalore engaged in research and design of programs to make Science, Mathematics and Computational Thinking education accessible for students with visual impairment. VE is currently working with government/government-aided special schools in 14 states.
Role Overview
The Resource Centre Coordinator will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our Accessible Resource Centre set up at IIIT Bangalore. This includes overseeing STEM learning material development and inventory, coordinating training sessions for teachers, facilitating resource usage by schools and partner organizations, and maintaining data on outreach and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Resource & Inventory Management
Maintain and organize tactile STEM resources, assistive devices, and accessible learning materials.
Track inventory, manage stock levels, and coordinate with vendors or production teams for replenishment.
Ensure all materials are labelled, catalogued, and accessible for both internal and external stakeholders.
Program Support & Facilitation
Coordinate and support training sessions, workshops, and demonstrations for teachers, field staff, partner organizations and VE Team.
Assist in preparing learning kits and training content.
Facilitate school visits to the resource center and support the usage of resources by children and teachers.
Monitoring & Documentation
Maintain records of visitors, resource usage, feedback, and learning outcomes.
Document best practices and learning stories.
Generate periodic reports on center activity and impact.
Stakeholder Coordination
Liaise with educators, coordinators, interns, volunteers, visitors.
Collaborate with content developers and accessibility experts to update and improve materials.
Act as the point of contact for partner schools or external visitors using the resource center.
Innovation & Accessibility
Identify opportunities to improve the design, usability, and accessibility of STEM learning tools.
Stay updated with emerging assistive technologies and inclusive education practices.
Key Qualifications and Skills
Graduate/Postgraduate in Education, Special Education, Social Work, or related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience in educational programs, preferably in the disability or nonprofit sector.
Strong organizational and coordination skills.
Good communication skills (spoken and written) in English and Kannada.
Familiarity with accessibility tools (e.g., screen readers, Braille, tactile diagrams) is a plus.
Comfort with using digital tools (MS Office, Google Workspace, basic data entry).
