We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Academic Counselor with a background in cosmetology to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the cosmetology field and a passion for guiding students towards achieving their educational and career goals. This role involves providing academic advice, career counseling, and support to students, ensuring they have a fulfilling and successful learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

1 •.Student Advising: •

- Provide personalized academic advising to students, helping them plan their course schedules, set educational goals, and stay on track for graduation.

- Assist students in understanding the requirements and opportunities within the cosmetology program.

2. •Career Counseling: •

- Offer career counseling services, including resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies tailored to the cosmetology industry.

- Connect students with potential employers and internship opportunities within the beauty and wellness sector.

3. •Student Support: •

- Identify and address any academic, personal, or social challenges that may affect students' performance and well-being.

- Coordinate with faculty and staff to provide appropriate resources and support services.

4. •Workshops and Seminars: •

- Organize and conduct workshops, seminars, and informational sessions on topics such as career development, industry trends, and academic success strategies.

- Invite guest speakers from the cosmetology industry to provide insights and networking opportunities for students.

5. •Program Development: •

- Collaborate with academic staff to develop and improve counseling programs and services.

- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the cosmetology curriculum based on student feedback and industry demands.

6. •Record Keeping and Reporting: •

- Maintain accurate records of student interactions, advising sessions, and progress.

- Prepare reports on student outcomes and counseling activities for review by academy leadership.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Cosmetology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

- Previous experience as an academic counselor or advisor, preferably within a cosmetology or vocational training institution.

- Certified cosmetologist with a valid state license is a plus.

- Strong understanding of the cosmetology industry and career pathways.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and industry professionals.

- Proficiency in using educational software and counseling tools.
