Position: Economics Teacher (IGCSE)
Location: Hopetown Girls' School, Dehradun
Reports to: Principal / Head of Department

Job Summary:

Hopetown Girls' School is seeking a dynamic and qualified Economics Teacher to deliver the IGCSE curriculum to students in grades 9 and 10. The teacher will inspire students to engage deeply with economic concepts and principles, fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and a global perspective on economic issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Delivery: Develop and deliver engaging lessons that align with the IGCSE Economics syllabus, covering topics such as basic economic problem-solving, markets, government and international trade.
• Student-Centered Learning: Utilize a range of teaching methods, including interactive lessons, case studies, and project-based learning, to encourage student participation and understanding of key economic concepts.
• Assessment and Evaluation: Design and implement assessments, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations. Provide constructive feedback and ensure students are well-prepared for IGCSE examinations.
• Real-World Application: Incorporate current global economic issues and trends into lessons, fostering a broader understanding of how economics impacts daily life and global affairs.
• Student Mentorship: Provide academic guidance and support to students, helping them navigate challenges, understand course material, and prepare for examinations.
• Professional Development: Stay updated on changes to the IGCSE curriculum and best practices in teaching Economics, attending training and workshops as required.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Social Sciences department and other faculties to enhance the interdisciplinary learning experience. Attend staff meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
• Parental Engagement: Maintain communication with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and performance.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Educational Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics or a related field.
• A teaching certification (such as PGCE or equivalent) is preferred.
• Experience: At least 3 years of teaching Economics, with experience in teaching the IGCSE curriculum preferred.
• Skills:
• Deep understanding of Economics and its global applications.
• Ability to teach complex economic concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies into the classroom.
