Supervising dispatchers in all aspects of their jobs, including scheduling, training, and performance management
Maintaining and updating call logs, incident reports, and other records of dispatch activities
Working with other departments within the organization to ensure effective communications between departments, including public safety agencies and departments such as fire services, police departments, hospitals, and emergency medical services (EMS) organizations
Reviewing incoming emergency calls to determine priority level and appropriate response
Ensuring that callers are routed to the appropriate department or agency based on the nature of their requests
Responding to requests for emergency assistance from the public using knowledge of protocols for handling emergencies
Overseeing the operations of emergency dispatch centers to ensure that all incoming calls are answered in a timely manner and emergency responders are dispatched to appropriate locations
Reviewing emergency response plans and protocols to ensure they are up to date and accurate
Monitoring ongoing emergency situations to ensure that appropriate responses are being enacted
