Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Dispatch Coordinator with a minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient dispatch of drivers and vehicles, ensuring deliveries are timely and comply with safety and regulatory standards. Your background in transportation will be essential in managing day-to-day operations effectively and maintaining a smooth workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispatching & Scheduling: Coordinate the dispatch of drivers and vehicles, ensuring that deliveries are assigned accurately and completed within the expected timeframes.
Transport Management: Utilize your knowledge of transportation logistics to plan and optimize delivery routes and schedules, considering factors like traffic, weather, and customer needs.
Problem Solving: Act as the primary point of contact for resolving issues that arise with transport operations, such as delays, route adjustments, or equipment issues.
Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with customers regarding delivery status, delays, or changes, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all transportation activities comply with company policies, as well as state and federal regulations. This includes ensuring drivers follow safety guidelines and maintaining vehicle compliance.
Reporting & Documentation: Track and maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle statuses, and driver performance. Generate reports on dispatch operations for management.
Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including customer service and inventory, to ensure coordination of deliveries and operations.
Requirements:
At least 5 years of experience in transportation or logistics, with hands-on experience in dispatching or coordinating vehicles.
Strong understanding of transportation regulations, safety protocols, and best practices in fleet management.
Proficiency with dispatch management software, GPS tracking systems, and scheduling tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and resolve issues efficiently.
Proven ability to optimize delivery routes, troubleshoot problems quickly, and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
Knowledge of vehicle maintenance schedules and basic troubleshooting is a plus.
High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in logistics or a related field is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with fleet management or managing a large number of vehicles.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions in fast-paced situations.
Ability to work independently while managing team dynamics.
