Roles and Responsibility
Summary

  • Lead the Data Risk & Governance agenda flowing from the Data Conduct Policy and its related Standards for the Transaction Banking (TB) business within the region:
  • Data Sovereignty - this risk will be the initial 12-18 month focus of the role

Data Risk & Governance - BAU
  • Attend the TB Data Risk & Governance Steering Committee, contributing material inputs on Data Sovereignty remediation and other data risks identified in country as relevant
  • Lead the book of work to remediate regulatory and audit commitments TB has across the region, ensuring close alignment focusing on Data Sovereignty requirements in the initial phase of the role, managing prioritisation, driving data discovery work globally and at a country level, defining and managing risk treatment plans and associated remediation, assessing and reporting progress and risk
  • Act as the TB single point of contact within the region on monitoring risk reduction / reg compliance levels on Data Sovereignty and other data risks as they arise. Ensure ownership of tasks is allocated to the correct business or technology representatives for action.
  • Track and co-ordinate regulatory and audit commitments TB has across Data risk types within the region
  • Actively monitor, review and report on key control metrics / risk profile related to Data Management across the TB Business in the region. Escalate risks to management or relevant committees in a timely manner. Make recommendations for improvements/changes based on the developed insights
  • Partner with Risk Framework Owners/Process Owners to ensure First Line Business & Functions perform Risk & Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA) at the required frequency intervals; provide healthy challenge to the risk assessments performed where required; and assess adequacy of controls / in managing their Data risk
  • Provide regional feedback on any changes being proposed to the data policies and underlying standards that impact TB
  • Execute education and training needs for respective risk types for TB Staff in the Region
  • Effectively engage senior business stakeholders across geographies, including local Audit and CFCC teams when required
  • Ensure TB Country Process Owners have adequate treatment plans in place to address any Data Risk elevations (including Data Sovereignty) providing assurance and challenge that remediation is fit for purpose and in line with Group Standards requirements. Ensure risks are appropriately prioritised against other risk types.
Data Risk - Change
  • Lead / co-ordinate all Data Conduct initiatives across TB in the region, working in close partnership with Regional Cash and Trade business teams on execution of specific deliverables and ensuring the TB approach is coherent and efficient
  • Initial focus area (12-18 months) will be to take ownership of Data Sovereignty risk remediation for the TB Business as a bespoke programme of work to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment to internal Standards. Drive completion of key milestones for TB in collaboration with TB/CCIB Group Data teams and in accordance with the Risk Remediation Plan / Risk Treatment Plan as appropriate.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to simplify and templatise Group standards and accompanying Country Addenda / Schedule to facilitate operationalization of the standards within TB e.g. Data Sovereignty
  • Act as the TB single point of contact on regulatory and internal initiatives (e.g. Data Standards implementation) that impact the wider TB footprint e.g. Data Sovereignty, Records Management and BCBS 239
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes/ updates in the Data Management space through participation in the Regional Forums and align / escalate to Group teams

  • Drive superior risk outcomes and a superior risk culture for Data Management in TB
  • Actively participate in a strong knowledge sharing and collaborative culture. Raise awareness about the importance of data Management through education, training and other awareness program.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Ability to multi-task and manage stakeholders at various levels (both senior and working level)

  • Experience working in data management projects and data governance in a distributed agile environment
  • In-depth understanding of data management obligations and control frameworks

  • Knowledge in records digitalisation/ imaging technology, industry records management tooling/solutions
  • University Degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Knowledge in records digitalisation/ imaging technology, industry records management tooling/solutions would be an advantage
