Director- SustainabilityWith increased urbanisation in India, the issue of urban poverty is on the rise - and will
magnify if not tackled collectively. And nowhere in India is this problem more pronounced than in Mumbai. The urban poor struggle to survive, and are deprived of basic human needs water, sanitation, nutrition, health, and shelter. Inadequate access to healthcare, education and livelihood opportunities keeps them vulnerable.Our partners works with the urban poor - Enabling access to basic services, healthcare,
education, and livelihoods; Empowering them to help themselves; and Ensuring provision of civic entitlements through advocacy with the government. Their programmes work at three different levels to help uplift the urban poor:1. Individual - They enable access to basic civic amenities, healthcare, education, and
livelihoods necessary for individuals to survive, feel secure and grow.
2. Community They empower the community to help themselves, by building their
capacity as Volunteers.
3. Government They ensure the provision of civic entitlements through advocacy
with the government.About the roleThe Director (Sustainability) is responsible for leading fundraising from private and public sector companies, HNIs, grant making foundations in India and overseas, and driving giving campaigns towards achieving ambitious fundraising targets. This role also leads the process for developing long-term strategic partnerships ensuring effective key account management and relationship building with Donors.Key Duties and Responsibilities1. Development and Implementation of Fundraising Strategy:

  • Provide inputs to the management team for the development of annual
fundraising strategy and plans. * Lead the execution of annual plans in close collaboration with the CEO andkey internal stakeholders; and coordinate all fundraising activities internally.2. Research and Identification of Prospects:
  • Actively research, develop and maintain a fundraising prospect database for
lead-generation for organization; including regular updates and follow-ups * Profile and research donors to assess their \'interest\' in various programs and customize pitch presentations to meet their needs
  • Research and identify various grant/CSR/HNI/campaign opportunities
  • Lead and actively participate in regular fundraising team meetings and report
progress and opportunities to the management team3. Development of Proposals, Applications, Products and Campaigns:
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive grant-funding calendar along with reporting and grant acquittal timelines
  • Actively collaborate with key internal stakeholders to develop concept notes,
grant applications, proposals and budgets for timely submissions within
required deadlines * Develop tailored proposals for each donor prospect based on theirprogrammatic interest and budget * Ensure timely creation and submission of various documentation andcertifications to support proposals and grant applications, as requested by
prospective donors * Lead the process of developing products, giving campaigns and platforms forfundraising, such as Daan Utsav, marathons, cause related events etc.4. Reporting and Donor Stewardship:
  • Ensure timely reporting to donors in relevant formats, in collaboration with
Program Managers and the Communications Team * Accompany key large donors on field visits, as applicable
  • Actively collaborate with the Communications Team to develop and implement strategies for the donor stewardship program
5. Team Management and Leadership:
  • Ensure the fundraising team is adequately staffed and trained with access to
required resources to be able to execute on fundraising targets. * Inspire, guide, mentor and engage the fundraising team to ensure a positive and high performance work culture, adherence to applicable compliances, maximized morale and enthusiasm, and retention of talent6. Brand Representation:
  • Represent the organization in various relevant corporate forums and events, national CSR seminars and conferences to network with, and improve the
organization\'s visibility among prospective corporates.7. Organizational Responsibilities:
  • Actively contribute and participate as a member of the Senior Leadership
Team in various organization-wide initiatives (as needed)Education and Experience:
  • Graduate or Masters degree in Social Work or Business/General Management (E.g.
Sales and Marketing) from a recognised University * Atleast 8 years of experience in a fundraising role within the nonprofit sector; with proven experience of the fundraising process, various fundraising channels and sources, CSR laws and applicable legislations around philanthropy, and emerging fundraising trends.Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
  • Highly proficient in English and Hindi languages (written and oral communication)
with a good track record in writing and winning fundraising proposals and
applications * Strong time management skills, multitasking ability and adherence to deadlinesHigh ownership and self-drive with the ability to work independently and drive
projects through to completion * Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to network, build rapport and positiverelationships with keen attention to detail and prospect needs * Results-focused leadership style with high integrity, empathy and ownershipAbility to actively collaborate and effectively partner with various
teams/departments/taskforces * High degree of perseverance with excellent analytical skills and problem solvingskills * Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed.
