Minimum qualifications: Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 15 years of experience as an engineering leader Experience scaling an engineering organization and leading technical innovation within distributed systems. Experience managing teams with geographical collaboration. Preferred qualifications: Master\'s Degree or PhD. Experience in lifecycle data rollouts at scale, promoting product excellence and collaboration. Experience as site leader within a globally distributed organization. Experience providing technical guidance and enabling teams to deliver services that benefit internal and external stakeholders. Expertise with highly scalable systems, with a particular focus on distributed systems, data, and concurrency. About the job The Data Analytics and Insights (DANI) organization within Core Data focuses on the critical user journey of deriving insights from structured data at Google scale. The DANI systems that power these journeys also underpin many of Google\'s business including Ads, Payments, and Finance and are leveraged for a wide variety of use cases including Business Intelligence (BI) and SQL analytics, data science and interactive analysis, real-time data serving for applications, and machine learning. As Director, you will be responsible for developing and leading teams to take on product ownership of components within our analytical storage systems and data processing systems portfolio.This portfolio includes products that collects, stores and manages Google\'s business-critical event records and products that empower Google to process data easily, efficiently, reliably, responsibly. In this role, you will lead teams primarily focused on analytical storage and data processing within DANI and drive the technical roadmap, working closely with technical leads, engineering management, and product management to translate the roadmap into solid designs, architectures, development plans, and code. You will work in collaboration with the teams in other geographies and anchor DANI\'s further expansion. The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google\'s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google\'s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company. Responsibilities Establish and lead a growing engineering organization responsible for components in the analytical storage systems and data processing portfolio within the Data Analytics and Insights organization. Execute the handoff of components from the other geographies that are currently building and supporting them. Provide the roadmap, strategy, and execution to expand Google\'s capabilities in analytical storage. Scale the systems to meet the needs of stakeholders across Google, including partner teams within Search, Ads, YouTube, Geo, Google Cloud, etc. Develop talent through effective hiring, mentoring, development, and coaching. Enhance and deliver against the Core Data strategy to build a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization. Work directly with internal customers, partners, product management, Engineering Productivity, and Site Reliability Engineering to ensure analytical storage continues to meet users where they are and is prepared for future needs.
