Job Title: Director Data Management - External Data OperationsCareer Level - FIntroduction to Role:
Join us at AstraZeneca as a Director DM - External Data Operations, where you will be a part of the Data Management Leadership Team. This role requires a focus on innovation and the reduction of timelines, working closely with Contract Research Organizations (CROs) to ensure the novel delivery of clinical trials using AZ systems and processes. You will also be responsible for the effective delivery of all third-party vendors, ensuring quality and adherence to KPIs.Accountabilities:
As a Director, you will work with cross-functional colleagues across Clinical Operations, TA aligned Biometrics and other R&D departments. You will lead specific areas of expertise within CDM with little/no direction from the Executive/Senior Director, CDM. Your role will involve driving innovation in data standards, enhancing processes, external data acquisition and seeking opportunities to reduce timelines in the execution of clinical trials. You will also be responsible for developing metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of the external data strategy and make data-driven decisions.Essential Skills/Experience:
- Degree(s) in business and/or life sciences, or equivalent.
- Minimum 14 - 16 years proven experience of excellent management of several parallel projects in a matrix environment in the pharmaceutical/medical/healthcare industry.
- Ability to understand business strategy and goals and generate new strategic options.
- Solid understanding of clinical trials\' methodology, GxP, and medical terminology.
- Extensive experience of managing vendors, budgets, timelines and risks.
- High attention to detail and a strong analytical mindset.
- Experience in working with senior managers - strong strategic influencing and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership skills, including the ability to solve problems that involve many decision makers, and develop multiple options/recommendations.
- Extensive networking skills, ability to interact widely and effectively both within the company (on both an interdepartmental and interdisciplinary basis) and externally.- Knowledge of Data Management, Programming, Statistics or Information Practice.
- Recognized expertise in one or more of the following areas: communication, capacity, recruitment, training, budget, business performance information, quality/compliance.
- Thrives in a fast-paced work environment, comfortable with complexity and uncertainty at times, dedication to deliver outcomes and motivated by the opportunity to rethink our approach to healthcare.
