SUMMARYWe are seeking an experienced Digital Language Expert to join our dynamic team. The Digital Language Expert will play a key role in developing and optimizing Indic language- related features, algorithms, and models to enhance the performance and functionality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Indian language understanding, linguistics, computational linguistics, or related fields, along with hands-on experience in NLP and digital content analysis.ABOUT US -Wadhwani AI is a nonprofit institute building and deploying applied AI solutions to solve critical issues in public health, agriculture, education, and urban development in underserved communities in the global south. We collaborate with governments, social sector organizations, academic and research institutions, and domain experts to identify real-world problems, and develop practical AI solutions to tackle these issues with the aim of making a substantial positive impact.We have over 30+ AI projects supported by leading philanthropies such as Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID and Google.org. With a team of over 200 professionals, our expertise encompasses AI/ML research and innovation, software engineering, domain knowledge, design and user research.In the Press:SoleCultures page of Wadhwani AI -ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESNLP Algorithm Development:Design, develop, and implement NLP algorithms, models, and techniques to improve language understanding, sentiment analysis, entity recognition, and other language-related tasks. Focus on Indic languages would be an advantage,Conduct research and experimentation to explore new approaches and advancements in NLP technology.Language Data Analysis:Analyze large volumes of digital language data to extract valuable insights, patterns, and trends. Indic language experience would be an added benefit.Develop methodologies and tools for data preprocessing, feature extraction, and linguistic analysis (Indian Languages understanding would be an advantage).Digital Content Optimization:Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize digital content for language relevance, clarity, and effectiveness.Provide linguistic expertise and guidance on content creation, localization, and adaptation strategies.Technical Documentation and Communication:Document technical specifications, methodologies, and findings in clear and concise formats.Communicate complex linguistic concepts and technical insights to non-technical stakeholders in a comprehensible manner.REQUIREMENTSBachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, or related field.5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in natural language processing, digital language analysis, or computational linguistics.Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.Strong understanding of NLP techniques, algorithms, and frameworks (e.g., NLTK, spaCy, TensorFlow).Experience with linguistic annotation tools, corpus linguistics, and language resources.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.We are committed to promoting diversity and the principle of equal employment opportunity for all our employees and encourage qualified candidates to apply irrespective of religion or belief, ethnic or social background, gender, gender identity, and disability.
