As a
DevOps Engineer
, you will be responsible for managing the infrastructure and deployment pipelines that support the development and operation of our social media platform. Your role will involve automating processes, improving system reliability, and ensuring that our applications are always available, secure, and scalable. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and other engineering teams to build a robust, agile infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Management
: Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) to support the growth of the app.
Continuous Integration & Delivery (CI/CD)
: Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast, reliable, and secure code deployments.
Automation
: Automate repetitive tasks, such as application deployments, infrastructure provisioning, and monitoring, to improve operational efficiency.
System Monitoring & Incident Management
: Implement system monitoring and alerting to ensure high availability and rapid response to any issues that arise in production.
Performance Optimization
: Optimize cloud resources, monitor resource utilization, and ensure the app's infrastructure scales to meet demand while minimizing costs.
Security
: Ensure the infrastructure is secure, including implementing best practices for cloud security, data encryption, and access control.
Collaboration
: Work closely with software engineers to integrate systems and tools that improve the development workflow, from code development to deployment.
Disaster Recovery & Backups
: Design and implement robust disaster recovery and backup strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
Documentation
: Maintain thorough documentation of infrastructure setups, deployments, and operational procedures.
Containerization & Orchestration
: Work with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar technologies to manage containerized applications in production.
System Updates & Patches
: Apply necessary system patches, security updates, and monitor for vulnerabilities in the infrastructure.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience
: 3+ years of experience in a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) role, preferably with experience in building and managing infrastructure for consumer-facing platforms.
Cloud Platforms
: Hands-on experience with cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure for hosting and managing applications.
CI/CD Tools
: Proficiency with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab CI, or similar, for automating build, test, and deployment processes.
Automation Tools
: Experience with automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation to manage infrastructure as code.
Containerization
: Solid experience working with Docker and Kubernetes for managing containers and orchestrating application deployment.
Scripting & Programming
: Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, or Ruby) to automate tasks and processes.
Monitoring & Logging
: Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic) and logging tools (e.g., ELK stack, Splunk) to ensure system health.
Version Control
: Experience using Git for version control and collaboration with development teams.
Security Best Practices
: Knowledge of cloud security best practices, data protection, and compliance standards.
Collaboration
: Strong communication and teamwork skills to work with cross-functional teams and ensure the alignment of infrastructure with development goals.
Problem-Solving
: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve issues quickly in a production environment.
Preferred Skills:
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
: Hands-on experience with IaC tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or similar.
Database Management
: Familiarity with database management and scaling (SQL, NoSQL) for highly available applications.
Networking
: Understanding of networking concepts, DNS, Load Balancing, and web server configurations.
Microservices Architecture
: Experience in deploying and managing microservices applications using containerized environments.
Disaster Recovery
: Knowledge of disaster recovery practices and high-availability architectures.
Agile Practices
: Experience in working in an Agile development environment.
