Role Overview: As a Development Engineer (Compaction), your role is pivotal in establishing new product development at Sandvik Coromant, Pune. You will be responsible for developing and implementing capabilities and processes to achieve cost targets, maintain quality standards, and ensure compliance with production standards. Additionally, you'll play a key role in controlling production schedules for the assigned production line(s) and driving continuous improvements in products and processes within the compaction manufacturing domain. Your contributions will extend to both local and global production units.
Main Responsibilities:• Responsible for compaction manufacturing in PDP projects. Develop and decide on production processes and methods. Make sure that product requirements are met in terms of quality and productivity for compaction.
• Participate as a resource in Product Development Projects (PDP) to implement new products for Coromant.
• Contribute with knowledge and experience and perform production support.
• Develop/Purchase technology and production equipment within compaction manufacturing.
• Create and revise directives and instructions within compaction manufacturing.
• Lead and participate in projects (MIP) to implement new technology in the area of Insert Production.
• Develop manufacturing and production processes that are reliable, cost-effective, and support the organization's short and long-term business objectives.
• Drive and contribute toward improvements to increase productivity, quality and cost of equipment, processes, work and best practice.
• Contribute with input from production in Product Development Projects.
• Responsible to perform support to production.
• Control and ensure that production schedules are met of the assigned production process.
• Revise and implement new method/process/products and equipment in production
• Purchase and implement equipment/system in production.
• Create and revise directives and instructions within area of expertise.
• Member of method development team in the area for compaction insert production
• Project member in new PDP's regarding compaction related tasks.
• Responsible for new machine investment for the local compaction area


Your Profile: We're looking for someone with the following qualifications and skills:

Education and Experience:• Master's degree in engineering or Ph.D. in a relevant field such as materials science, mechanical engineering, or metallurgy
• 2 - 5 years of experience in product development in engineering /manufacturing industry.
• Strong understanding of the metal powder manufacturing process, including pressing and sintering, as well as press tool manufacturing.
• Technical knowledge in pressing and sintering, as these are areas where some competencies are well-established within the industry.


Technical and Behavioural Competence:• Ability to analyse and understand shape deviations from CAD models to produced pieces and develop models to ensure the first piece is made correctly.
• Experience with simulation processes and equipment related to compaction,
• Knowledge sharing abilities, focus on collaborative approach to maximize results
• Experience in Machine Improvement Projects (MIP).
• Machine-specific competence in machines at compaction area
• Competence regarding consumables and processes for compaction area.
• Software-specific skills (e.g., SAP, GSSII, Office 365, SAP, Antura, IAR Power Apps).
• Experience in managing projects structured in various models, particularly those similar to stage gate processes such as PDP, KDP, MIP or relevant project models
• Project management skills.
• Ability to work across different business units and communicate globally
• Effective communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.

• Willingness to engage in practical, hands-on work, including running trials and conducting investigations in production settings.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and collaborate with production teams and contribute to problem-solving and improvements on the shop floor.

• Knowledge of way of working at other PUs and ability to communicate and cooperate globally.
