Job overview and responsibilities

United Airlines\xe2\x80\x99 Customer Technology Platform department partners with business and technology leaders across the company to create high-performing services and real-time messaging applications across key airline functionalities such as Booking, Check-in, Payment, Reservation systems, and Operational Systems to help support the commercial and digital Channels of United.

As a software developer in the Data Enablement team, you will be responsible for the development of mission-critical applications, while working with a team of developers. This individual will build high-performing, real-time middleware solutions in the extremely critical domains of Baggage, Flight Operations, Reservation Management, and Check-in. You will play a large role in building data caches and real-time messaging applications, used by operational and commercial systems across the company. Additionally, as a developer, you will build these applications with a focus on delivering cloud-based solutions. The individual will use leading-edge technologies and enterprise grade integration software on a daily basis.

• Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design
• Serve as a technical expert on development projects
• Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements
• Support, maintain, and document software functionality
• Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation
• Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed
• Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements
• Consult with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs
• Recognized as expert in field, knowledgeable of emerging trends and industry practices
• Conducts the most complex and vital work critical to the organization
• Works without supervision with complete latitude for independent judgment
• May mentor less experienced peers and display leadership as needed

This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded. This position is for United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd - a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems and/or equivalent work experience
• 4+ years of experience in design, development, documenting, testing, and debugging of new and existing software systems and/or applications for market sale or large-scale proprietary software for internal use
• Experience developing application code and unit tests in Java, Spring (Boot, Data, Batch, Security)
• Migration experience on AWS is strongly preferred
• Experience on DevOps such as setting up AWS CI/CD pipelines is preferred
• Strong experience building SPA \xe2\x80\x93 Single page applications using Angular, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, Bootstrap and CSS3
• Strong object-oriented design skills and the ability to analyze requirements and transform into scalable software designs using patterns and standard processes
• Experience working as Manager or Technical Lead
• Technologies, and RESTful web services, Microservices, Messaging Architectures and RDBMS
• Couchbase or other NOSQL Database
• Experience with TeamCity a plus, Harness is preferred
• Strong ability to apply standard processes and design patterns while developing code
• Proficiency with Git, CI-CD practices

Preferred

• Master\'s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems
• Project experience in TIBCO technologies, Business Works, Business Events, Active Spaces, EMS
• Familiarity with native Cloud technologies/patterns (AWS/Azure), Docker containers and Container Orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
• Airline industry experience
