Desktop support/System Admin (Associate level)
A Desktop Engineer/System Admin is responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktop hardware, software, and operating systems within an organization and ensuring that employees have the necessary technical resources to perform their work efficiently. Providing support for both hardware and software issues. Primarily responsible for providing technical support for desktop systems, including hardware, software, networking, and Servers. The role requires strong troubleshooting skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and maintain desktop PCs, laptops,printers and monitors.
• Provide technical support for operating system issues, software installations, and updates (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux).
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems related to desktop systems.
• Serve as the first point of contact for employees experiencing technical issues with their computers.
• Offer remote and in-person support for resolving desktop-related problems.
• Guide users through troubleshooting steps and assist in resolving minor and complex issues.
• Create and deploy standard operating system images for desktops and laptops.
• Perform hardware and software installations and upgrades.
• Ensure systems are compliant with company policies and security standards.
• Regularly maintain and update desktops and laptops, ensuring the latest software patches and security updates are applied.
• Perform hardware upgrades or repairs as needed (e.g., RAM, hard drives, keyboards, etc.).
• Configure and troubleshoot network connections, VPN access, and remote access solutions.
• Assist with network issues that affect desktop systems, such as Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or network printer issues.
Asset Management:
• Maintain records of desktop hardware and software inventory.
• Track the lifecycle of IT assets, ensuring timely replacement or upgrade of hardware.
Security and Compliance:
• Ensure desktop systems are secure and meet organizational security standards (e.g., antivirus, encryption, firewalls).
• Monitor systems for signs of malware or unauthorized access.
• Assist in the enforcement of data privacy and compliance policies.
Documentation and Reporting:
• Document and track all support requests, incidents, and resolutions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of installed software and configurations.
• Produce periodic reports on desktop issues, trends, and resolutions.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor Degree (B com/ BSC IT/ BE)
• IT certification (Optional)
• Minimum exp in similar domain for 1yr to 3yrs
Required Skills:
• Proficiency in desktop operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).
• Knowledge of desktop hardware components (e.g., CPU, RAM, hard drives).
• Familiarity with troubleshooting software issues, including application support.
• Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and network administration.
• Knowledge of desktop virtualization (e.g., VDI solutions) and cloud services is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with non-technical users.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service orientation and a proactive approach to resolving issues
