Job Description

We are looking for Desk Editors to edit and reshape stories on global megacaps such as Apple, Amazon and Microsoft as well as some of the most vibrant midsized companies that could become tomorrow\xe2\x80\x99s global giants. We are looking for talented editors to work out of our bureau in Bangalore, but we will also consider suitable applications from those looking to work remotely in India. Editors working in a hybrid set-up from Bangalore would be expected to work across shifts covering daylight and occasional overnight hours, while those with the relevant experience seeking to do the job purely from a remote location would be expected to cover largely U.S. daylight hours (India overnight hours).
The Reuters Bangalore bureau, the largest Reuters news operation in the world, has set a global benchmark for producing real-time company and markets news at speed. The Bangalore Desk is an integral part of this operation, editing every story produced in the bureau and providing hands-on editorial guidance to hundreds of reporters who are covering companies from Sydney to San Francisco. The team of editors, which works 24x5, is also integrated with the Global News Desk, editing stories from other locations as well.

About You:
The ideal candidate will be:
Adept at performing quickly under pressure as they work with reporters and news editors to produce compelling stories that appeal both to professional clients who rely on Reuters to help make investment decisions and general readers who access Reuters news through Reuters.com and media outlets worldwide.
Well-versed in financial news and comfortable editing stories across asset classes;
An individual who has a strong background in editing, with an eye for detail and the ability to simplify and explain often-complex material.

And as a Desk Editor, you will:
Edit, rewrite and reshape stories with dynamic prose and strong news judgment across the global file, with focus on U.S. company news copy; ensure stories have context and actionable content for clients; produce sharp headlines, punchy leads and overall lively writing
Ensure that stories meet Reuters\xe2\x80\x99 standards for accuracy, speed, balance and clarity.
Enforce Reuters\xe2\x80\x99 high editorial and ethical standards, adhering to style, guidelines and policies laid out by the Reuters Trust Principles and the Reuters Handbook of Journalists

Experience & Behaviours:
To apply for this role, you will likely have:
At least 5 years of experience editing business news. Reporters with proven writing skills will also be considered
An ability to multi-task and deliver under pressure
Strong communication skills along with a Diverse & Inclusive mindset
