FEA Engineer role is to support product development teams, primarily in the field of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) at the components & assemblies of Stryker products. This role needs to work closely with cross functional teams in Stryker and execute FEA for implants and surgical instruments. Responsible for execution of the simulation activities under mentorship. Interact with design engineers, principals, simulation experts in India and overseas, in the FEA projects execution to accelerate the product development. Open to learn advancements in simulation, best practice sharing and disseminate the learning to the project and simulation team of the organization.What you will do:
General Responsibilities:Interact with the various product development teams and understand the FEA requirements.Work with the design, validation and advanced operations teams to create FEA modeling plan and model preparation.Perform finite element simulations on medical devices of titanium, cobalt chrome and polymer-based implants and instrumentsInteract with product owners and translate the problem statements to Finite Element ModelsAnalyze and interpret simulation results and recommend design improvements to project team.Perform verification and validation of simulation results against test data and hand calculations.Write technical reports with valid reasoning and validation results.Participate in simulation workshops, forums, training & conferences both internal & external.Work with the test lab engineers in setting up test methods and fixtures to validate simulation results.Technical Skill Set:Strong background in FEA and solid mechanicsKnowledgeable on fundamentals of beams theory and calculationsProficient in handling highly nonlinear FEA problems, both in theory and hands-on (e.g., contact types, frictional, frictionless, rough etc.)Strong background in material behavior and material models including metals, polymers and synthetic biomaterials like sawbones, polymers etc.Proficiency in at least one of the CAE softwares like Ansys, Radioss and HypermeshAbility to write codes in MATLAB, Python or similar tools used for mathematical modeling, write custom scripts for implementing it in simulation tools such as Ansys etcStrong knowledge on design optimization and hands-on experience at FEA tools customization/automationExperience on building patient specific models for FEA simulations is a plus.Knowledge on ASME V&V 40 is preferred. Or the candidate should have strong analytical experience to verify the simulation results, mesh sensitivity analysis, uncertainty quantification of input parameters etc.Knowledge of 3D model construction using CT or equivalent radiography data of humans into 3D models for FEA calculations and validationsAdditional Skills:Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.Excellent analytical skillsEffective interpersonal, communications skills and demonstrated track of having worked in a global team setup.Creation of machine learning models using FEA simulation datasets is preferred.Minimum Qualifications (Required):
