Position Overview: The Designer cum Merchandiser is a hybrid role that combines creative design skills with merchandising expertise. This position is responsible for creating and developing innovative product designs while also managing the merchandising aspects of the product lifecycle. The Designer cum Merchandiser collaborates with various teams, such as design, production, marketing, and sales, to ensure the successful execution of product concepts from ideation to final delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Development: Generate creative ideas and concepts for new products or product lines based on market research and consumer trends.
Create sketches, renderings, or digital designs of products using design software or traditional drawing techniques.
Develop technical specifications, including materials, measurements, and construction details, to guide the production process.
Collaborate with the design team to review and refine designs based on feedback and market demands.
Merchandising: Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitor analysis, and consumer preferences to inform product development and merchandising strategies.
Work closely with the production team to source and select materials, trims, and accessories for product manufacturing.
Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, and vendors to negotiate pricing, quality standards, and production timelines.
Monitor inventory levels and sales performance to ensure timely replenishment and effective stock management.
Analyze sales data and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product improvement and develop strategies to maximize profitability.
Project Management: Manage the product lifecycle from concept development to production, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including design, production, marketing, and sales, to align objectives and ensure smooth execution.
Oversee sample development and conduct product quality inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications.
Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address issues, resolve conflicts, and ensure project success.
