This is an exciting time to join us as were bolstering our Design presence in India and building our user-centric culture with a team of amazing colleagues. You will report to our Senior Design Manager. This role is part of Morningstars Manager (people management) job career ladder for Design.Your day-to-day will include ownership of areas of the Wealth Marketplace sub-group of the International Wealth team. This team is comprised of several cross-functional teams based in India and Australia. Youll work with other stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and more to understand the challenges our investors, advisors, and internal customers face. Additionally, you will partner with your team of Designers to create the most delightful user experiences. Weve been hard at work understanding our users journey, personas, and the problems our users face and need a Design Manager to help guide the team and mature UX methodology within our Design centre of excellence.While this jobs primary function is managerial, we are a growing team and we would expect approximately 25-50% of your time to be more hands-on with Design work, enabling you to better understand your area of ownership and help grow your influence within your team.Youll also:Be a member of the International Wealth Design chapter; a team of talented designers across India, the United Kingdom, and Australia.Line-manage, coach, and support a team of 3 talented Designers in India to start.Partner closely with International Wealth Design Leadership to grow and nurture our Design practice.Partner with the Wealth Marketplace leadership across Product, Engineering, Method, Marketing, Sales, Implementation, and other disciplines to influence and guide strategy.Elevate Design methodology in our Wealth Marketplace team in India (New Delhi) and help strengthen your teams skills and processes.Mature our Design process as we grow as a global team.Tactically support your team as a Design expert, being able to dive into work when needed to support or provide guidance, feedback, and design direction.Advocate for your team and Design best practices across the business.Who you are.We recognize that design skills are transferable from one subject to the next, and while working on financial products can be helpful, its not required for this role. If this role sounds interesting to you, and youve led design solutions, we want to talk to you.Primary Focus: People Management / Product DesignYou have excellent skill in 2 or more of these craft areas and can teach it to others: UX Design, Design Strategy, Service Design, User Research, Content Strategy, Information Architecture, Design Systems, Accessible Design, Design Workshopping, Visual Design or UX Engineering.Guide complex problems of diverse scope, requiring in-depth analysis of multiple factors with a high degree of variability.Guide the user experience and help coordinate the work of the designers that report to you.In addition to solving complex design problems, a design manager also supports team alignment, strategy, and prioritization creatively and effectively.Coach designers on tactics to clarify problem spaces, business goals, customer needs, career growth, personal development, etc.Management / LeadershipResponsible for the people management responsibilities of a small team of designers along with supervising their daily work.Provide creative direction across a user experience with direction from the Senior Design Manager / Design Director.Nurture the individuals on your team, helping them realize their potential.You provide career guidance, and candor when critiquing individuals work and encourage them to improve.Help establish design operation processes, standards, and policies.CollaborationMay individually contribute to aspects of design output.You help product leaders establish the scope of projects and initiatives, clarify how decisions impact business goals, and guide the team to execute design direction.Ensure design output from direct reports meets our standards and design strategy.Help the team incorporate feedback from customers, users, and partners into your workflow.Coach the team on how to align differing points of view.Mentor other designers and contribute to the improvements to our design systems, processes, and standards, either directly or through your direct reports.Have a strong command of organizational behaviors and EQ.You can adjust your tactics in strategic ways that guide others towards desired goals.Guide your team in making connections between personal growth goals and business goals.Basic Qualifications:7+ years of experience as a User Experience Design professional is required.1+ years of previous line management experience of Design professionals.Bachelors degree in graphic design, Digital Design, Communication Arts, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Engineering/Design, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent professional experience.Strong understanding of UX design principles and user-centered design.A portfolio of work, showcasing your skills as an advanced design practitioner will be required for consideration.Preferred Qualifications:Strong knowledge of Figma, Microsoft Office Suite, and Mac OS X.Knowledge of HTML and CSS.Experience as a UX Designer in financial services or large corporation.How to apply:Please include your resume and a link to your online portfolio of work you're most proud of, so you can tell stories about your experience and impact.
