Overview:

As a Design Manager in the pump industry, you will be responsible for leading a team of design engineers and overseeing the development of innovative and efficient pump systems. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing projects from conception to completion, and ensuring that designs meet industry standards and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of design engineers, providing guidance and support throughout the design process. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment to encourage creativity and problem-solving.

2. Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from initial concept through to final implementation. Coordinate with various stakeholders, including sales, marketing, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams, to ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget.

3. Design Development: Oversee the design and development of pump systems, including centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, and specialized pumping solutions. Utilize CAD software such as CREO 3 and engineering principles to create detailed designs that optimize performance, reliability, and efficiency.

4. Hydraulic Calculation: Apply expertise in fluid dynamics and hydraulic principles to perform calculations and simulations for pump performance. Ensure that hydraulic designs meet specified requirements for flow rate, pressure, efficiency, and other key parameters.

5. Centrifugal Pump Design: Lead the design and optimization of centrifugal pumps, including impeller design, casing design, and system integration. Utilize computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and other analytical tools to optimize pump performance and minimize energy consumption.

6. Pump New Design and Development: Drive innovation and product development initiatives to create new pump designs that meet emerging market needs and technological advancements. Collaborate with research and development teams to identify new opportunities and translate concepts into viable product designs.

7. Technical Expertise: Stay updated on the latest advancements in pump technology, materials, and manufacturing processes. Apply your technical expertise to evaluate design proposals, troubleshoot complex issues, and propose innovative solutions that enhance product performance and competitiveness.

8. Quality Assurance: Work closely with the quality assurance team to establish and maintain rigorous quality standards for pump designs. Conduct design reviews, testing, and validation to ensure compliance with industry regulations and customer specifications.

9. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline design processes, reduce costs, and enhance product reliability. Implement best practices, design standards, and lessons learned from previous projects to optimize future designs and workflows.

10. Customer Collaboration: Collaborate with customers to understand their unique requirements and design custom pump solutions that address their specific needs. Build strong relationships with key customers, providing technical expertise and support throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pump design or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.

- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CREO 3), hydraulic calculation tools, and other engineering tools.

- Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and mechanical principles related to pump systems.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects and leading cross-functional teams.

- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations governing pump design and manufacturing processes.
