Job Summary:
• Design Engineer is responsible for the design of pressure vessels, Heat Exchangers, Piping and associated Equipment, products & services in the Oil & Gas, Cryogenics, Petrochemical, Chemical and Fabrication sector.
• Must be able to prepare drawings - GA, P&ID, Layout, 3D drgs. 2D drg and mfg. drgs using autoCAD, 3D drg. Software CREO and other software
• This individual will interface with planning, QA/QC, sales, purchasing, other engineering groups, and manufacturing to resolve issues and suggest improvements relating to design and fabrication.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Maintains a very good understanding of engineering principles, theories, concepts, and processes.? Routine use of mechanical and structural sciences. Must have knowledge of thermodynamic, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
• Must be able to do all design calculations independently.
• Must be very conversant with applicable codes like ASME, EN, IS, IBR, TEMA, ASCE, NBIC, PED and other international design standards.
• Must be able to prepare Technical Purchase Specifications for all materials
• Prepares engineering documents to support Manufacturing and customer needs.
• Responsible for material selection and component design of ASME pressure vessels and heat exchangers.
• Involvement in selecting valves, Gauges & Instruments, purchased heat exchangers, pumps, motors, and compressors.
• Must support project/job estimation, preparation of technical data sheets for the Techno-Commercial Offer to the prospective customers.
• Evaluates and implements corrective action for package quality initiatives.
• Provides technical guidance to Suppliers, Purchasing, Customers, Production, Planning, QA/QC, Marketing, and Operations.
• Responsible for communicating technical direction to others (CAD designers, technicians, etc.) who assist on specific work assignments.
• Independently reads & interprets basic schematics (GA, P&ID, piping, plot layouts etc.) and detailed drawings (Fabrication, assembly, machining, welding, etc.).
• Checks designs and drawings for correct use of mechanical components and verifies contents of designs.
• Resolves shop issues relating to design and fabrication.
• Apply computer knowledge to automate and streamline calculations and workflow.
• Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs.
• May require travel.
