The position of Deputy Project Director is the key position in these BIDs. Missions/Main Duties:

  • Assist in developing and implementing project plans, schedules, and milestones in line with project goals.
  • Coordinate activities across teams (engineering, procurement, finance, operations) to ensure project alignment.
  • Manage daily operations and monitor progress, reporting any issues to the Project Director
  • Supervise project managers and departmental leads, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and resolution of bottlenecks.
  • Act as a bridge between the Project Director and the project team to communicate strategic priorities and goals.
  • Foster a collaborative environment among cross-functional teams
  • Support the Project Director in maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including government bodies, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings, preparing necessary documentation and presentations
  • Oversee budget tracking and expenditure control for various segments of the project.
  • Assist in financial reporting, ensuring project costs align with the budget and identifying potential savings.
  • Review contracts, invoices, and financial documents for accuracy and adherence to budget guidelines
  • Identify project risks and work with teams to develop and implement risk mitigation plans.
  • Ensure project compliance with all local and national regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee technical aspects of the project, including civil works, track systems, signaling, electrification, and station infrastructure.
  • Ensure adherence to technical standards and quality benchmarks, conducting regular reviews of project deliverables
  • Prepare and review progress reports, providing updates to the Project Director and senior management.
  • Track project performance using metrics to ensure alignment with project timelines and objectives.
  • Communicate progress, delays, and other key project information to internal and external stakeholder
  • Manage project changes by reviewing requests, assessing impacts, and ensuring proper approvals.
  • Document and communicate changes, coordinating with teams to implement necessary adjustments in scope, budget, or timeline
Profile/Skills:
  • Graduate in Electrical Engineering/Mech/ Electronic and Telecommunication
  • 15+ years in railway or railway related industries, out of which minimum 5 years in Metro.
  • Experience in managing complex, large-scale projects, including familiarity with public transportation infrastructure.
  • Background in engineering or technical management is often preferred.
  • Solid understanding of metro or urban rail systems, including signaling, electrification, rolling stock, and station design.
  • Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera, MS Project, or similar.
  • Knowledge of safety, regulatory, and environmental standards for metro projects
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience supervising and motivating large teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and negotiation
  • Ability to assess risks, identify issues, and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills for budget management, resource allocation, and project tracking
  • PMP, or other recognized project management certification
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements specific to metro systems, including environmental and safety standards.
  • Experience with local government and regulatory body engagement is a plus
