Job Title: Cashier

Department: Store Operations

Reports to: Store Manager

Job Overview:

As a Cashier at Wow discount bazaar, you play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring efficient cash handling operations. You will be responsible for processing customer transactions, handling payments, and maintaining accurate records. Your friendly demeanour and attention to detail will contribute to a positive shopping experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

Greet customers with a warm and friendly demeanour.

Assist customers with their purchases and provide information on store promotions and policies.

Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints in a courteous manner.

Cash Handling:

Accurately and efficiently process cash, credit, debit, and other forms of payment.

Ensure the cash register is properly balanced at the beginning and end of each shift.

Handle returns and exchanges while adhering to store return policies.

Maintain a secure and organized cash drawer at all times.

Product Knowledge:

Familiarize yourself with the store's product offerings and layout to assist customers effectively.

Provide information on product pricing, features, and availability.

Transaction Accuracy:

Ensure the accuracy of each transaction, including item scanning and pricing.

Verify the authenticity of payment methods to prevent fraud or discrepancies.

Process loyalty program cards and coupons as required.

Cash Register Maintenance:

Keep the cash register area clean and organized.

Replenish cash register rolls and supplies as needed.

Report any malfunctioning equipment to the Store Manager.

Compliance and Security:

Follow all store policies and procedures related to cash handling and security.

Adhere to legal regulations regarding cash transactions and age-restricted sales.

Report any suspicious activities or incidents to the Store Manager or Loss Prevention team.

Team Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with other store staff to maintain a smooth shopping experience for customers.

Assist with inventory counts and restocking shelves during downtime.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Proven experience in cashiering or a related role is preferred but not required.

Strong numerical and basic math skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling.

Ability to handle cash register equipment and point-of-sale systems.

Customer-focused attitude and a positive, friendly demeanour.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
