Your Role and Responsibilities
As an DB2 Migration Engineer, you would be responsible for ..• This Candidate is responsible for db2 database migration , installation and configuration on the below environments.
• On Prem
• Multi Cloud
• Redhat Open shift Cluster
• HADR
• Non-DPF and DPF.
• IIAS
• Migration of other databases to Db2(eg TERADATA / SNOWFLAKE / SAP to db2 migration)
• Performance tuning and optimization.
• Monitor performance metrics.
• Perform health check of the databases and make recommendations.
• Create high-level designs, detail level designs, maintaining product roadmaps which includes both modernization and leveraging cloud solutions.
• Backup & Recovery
• Capacity Planning
• Deploy DB2 databases as containers within Red Hat OpenShift clusters
• Configure containerized database instances, persistent storage, and network settings to optimize performance and reliability.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• 10+ years of experience as a DB2 Database Administrator or in a similar role.
• Knowledge on various cloud technologies like AWS,Azure,GCP etc.
• Advance knowledge of DB2 database architecture, features, and utilities.
• Advanced SQL programming skills and extensive experience with SQL tuning and optimization.
• Deep understanding of database backup and recovery techniques, including expertise in backup tools and recovery strategies.
• Proficiency in database security concepts and implementation, with experience in designing and implementing robust security measures.
• Extensive experience with database monitoring and performance tuning tools, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex performance issues.
• Strong knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery solutions for DB2 databases.
• Experience with database replication, data migration, and data integration tools.
• Familiarity with database automation and scripting languages for task automation (e.g., Shell scripting, Python).
• Experience with capacity planning, scalability, and optimization of database resources.
• Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in database administration, including cloud-based database services and containerization.
• Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with a track record of resolving complex database issues.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and mentor junior DBAs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master's degree may be preferred.
• Certification in IBM DB2 administration or related certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Database Administrator - DB2).
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
• Experience with database performance benchmarking and capacity planning.
• Knowledge of database regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Experience with other database platforms and technologies (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).
• Understanding of DevOps principles and experience with CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools.
